This walk passes all ten of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum sites, and four ScheduledMonuments, within a ten mile circuit. Starting at Blists Hill Victorian Town, we will take the Silkin Way to Coalport before walking along the valley to Jackfield. From here the route goes uphill to the market town of Broseley, down through some of the jitties, and steeply back down to the Iron Bridge. From here it’s a steady walk up to Coalbrookdale. From Coalbrookdale the route passes through upper Ironbridge before dipping down again to the river and a steady walk back through Lloyd’s Coppice back to Blists Hill. For anyone wishing to attend the Festival medal ceremony, the All Nations Pub is just across the road from Blists Hill. Grade of Walk: Moderate Length:10 miles Pace: Steady Terrain: Mixed/ Field paths/ woodland/ bridleways/ quiet roads and lanes and town walking Steps and Stiles: Several short flights of steps/kissing gates/no stiles Dog Friendly: NO Walk Leader: Sarah Roberts Specific Walk Information: Toilets are available on the route. We will stop for a brief lunch break - please bring your own supplies and something to sit on! Essential Information for Walkers: All walks take place within the Ironbridge Gorge which will naturally include uphill and downhill sections. Please come prepared for the walk, with water, drinks, snacks and lunch as appropriate as it is not possible to purchase items on route. Good walking boots/shoes are essential and be prepared for wet or sunny weather- possibly both in the same day! Children ( Under 18’s ) are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility and be capable of the distance, pace and duration of the walk. Please allow plenty of time to reach your event, parking can be tricky in the gorge! It is possible to reach Ironbridge via public transport but there are limited services. Medals are available for anyone completing 25,50,75 or 100 miles over 3 or more walks during the festival and if you complete over 150 miles you will receive our new Cartman Challenge medal – it has been done!!!.
