Once connected, the Circuit Trails will be one of the nation's premier urban trail networks and it will provide multiple benefits to neighborhoods, communities and the region as a whole. The 9/11 National Memorial Trail is a network of over 1,300 miles of trails connecting New York City, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in tribute to the heroes who perished on September 11, 2001, and the heroes who, in response, answered the call for their country. The FreeWalkers are again offering the Cross-Jersey Walking Challenge, with a goal of walking the 100 miles of the East Coast Greenway across the entire state at any time during the year. This beautiful Arboretum, covering one quarter of an acre, is rich in diverse plant life. The owners have cultivated a gorgeous collection of trees of Japanese origin, including four species of Japanese maple, the herbaceous perennial Kirengeshoma palmata, and the Japanese Wood Poppy. Pax et Bonum Arboretum also features ingenious water conservation through existing infrastructure uncovered on the property and expertly trained espaliered fruit trees which display how space can be efficiently used to create a truly unique home garden. Elliot’s Ride for Everyone is your chance to ride along Newport's scenic coastline, free of cars! This is the one day of the year when everyone comes out to enjoy one of the loveliest rides in the region outside, on the road, safely and with confidence. Maher-a-Lago is a hidden gem garden situated just off the banks of Almy Pond. The small garden property, which is packed with nearly 50 woody plant species and cultivars, is bisected by a small stream leading to the pond.
