Girls in Denim EP Release Show - Sloane Monroe Location: The Waiting Room Come join us for an unforgettable night of music as Sloane Monroe celebrates the release of their latest EP, Girls in Denim. Support acts include Le Montais and Tapwaterlucy. Get and ready to rock out and dance the night away at The Waiting Room. Dress code is denim on denim on white. Don't miss this chance to support local talent and enjoy a night of fantastic live music. See you there! Sloane MonroeDescribed as platinum pop of a richly rewarding kind (Trust the Doc), Sloane Monroe is a singer-songwriter and violinist with a distinctive passion for the electronic pulse of indie pop. With her musical explorations starting at just four years old, she grew up trying to imitate the likes of Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse during long car drives, being born with strong blues and folk ties. Moving to London from the USA to study jazz violin in 2018, Sloane began pushing the boundaries of contemporary pop, working with the likes of Haydn Bendall (Kate Bush), YUNGBLUD and Chinchilla. Inspired by London’s vivid nightlife, she quickly started to layer her bluesy songwriting with hints of pop and electronica to forge an exciting new sound. Following her releases 'Clueless' and 'Magnetic', Monroe's first EP 'Girls in Denim', is a celebration of girlhood and unapologetic truths. Confidence is key. Nothing is done or said with your foot halfway out the door. No apologies will be given just for existing. With a sonic world similar to the likes of Lola Young, Charli XCX and the 1975, Monroe creates a boundary-pushing approach to pop music, mixing a blues foundation with sticky electronica to forge something that feels contemporary and distinctive. Le MontaisWritten and recorded from the solitude of her bedroom studio, Le Montais potent vocal prowess and a fierce feminist attitude wanders through the sonic depths of genre busting artists such as Lana Del Rey, Kate Bush and Lorde. TAPWATERLUCYTapwaterlucy is quickly becoming a rising star within the electropop field. With previous acclamation from notable press publications such as NOTION, Earmilk, Music Crowns & New Wave, gig highlights at All Points East, Good Karma Club & Loud Ldn events and radio placements on BBC Introducing, Reprezent FM & Foundation FM, Tapwaterlucy is truly an artist to watch this year. Kirsty Capes, whose debut CARELESS was longlisted for the Women's Prize, and Jessica Moor, author of the much-fêted KEEPER, will be in conversation to celebrate their latest bestsellers. Jessica's HOLD BACK THE NIGHT delves into one nurse's experience of the little-known history of conversion therapy and the heart-breaking betrayal of the AIDS crisis, and is recommended by no less authorities than Peter Thatchell and Jeanette Winterson. Doors at 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start, ticket price includes a glass of wine! Copies of both books will be available on the night. Information Source: Stoke Newington Bookshop | eventbrite
