A piano prodigy and the youngest winner of the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition, Canadian Kevin Chen showcases his remarkable talent in a recital featuring masterpieces by Chopin and Liszt. Since beginning piano at age five, Chen has achieved international acclaim, winning top prizes at the Arthur Rubinstein Competition and Concours de Genève. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and with leading orchestras worldwide, captivating audiences with his extraordinary artistry. Chen's program features an enthralling selection of works, highlighting his technical brilliance and interpretive depth. It includes Chopin’s “Four Mazurkas, Op. 41,” poetic and intimate, the dramatic “Fantaisie in F minor, Op. 49,” with its sweeping emotional range, and the monumental “Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58,” a masterpiece of structural grandeur. The Liszt selections feature the haunting “Ballade No. 2 in B minor,” the lyrical “Sonetto 104 del Petrarca” from “Années de pèlerinage,” introspective and tender, and the dazzling “Réminiscences de Don Juan,” a virtuosic tour de force of operatic fantasy.
