Someone In This Crowd Will Betray Me | Big Fork Theatre
Jun 13, 2025 (UTC+10)
Terrace
I've got a terrible feeling about this show. Like, somehow…the whole thing is doomed. I've got this recurring dream where I'm on stage, thousands of miles from home and the crowd has turned on me. There are thousands of them and they are all booing me and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) is there, and so is Simon Cowell and he’s slamming his fist into a red buzzer and the sound splits the air like a gunshot and the ceiling rips open and confetti rains down like debris but the booing only gets louder and louder and louder and louder and then… I wake up. And ! realise that all of that actually happened to me. This show has nothing to do with that story. I doubt I'll even mention it. Either way, I can’t see this going well. As booed on America's Got Talent 'Offers nothing personal and almost no actual content.' ★★★★ Chortle (UK) 'Egotistical delusions.' ★★★★ The Scotsman (UK) 'Indescribable.' ★★★★ The List (UK) 'Disorderly.' ★★★★★ Isolated Nation 'When it was evening, he reclined at table with the twelve. And as they were eating, he said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another, “Is it I, Lord?”' - Matthew 26:20 FAQs about our shows & venue here:bigforktheatre.com/big-fork-faqs Big Fork Theatre is Brisbane's home of improv & comedy, located centrally in Fortitude Valley. Sammy P | Why The Long Face | Good Chat Comedy Club
Jun 14, 2025 (UTC+10)
Terrace
In 2018, Sammy Petersen collapsed onstage and quit standup comedy after 7 years. Two of his comedy mentors, both battling with addiction, had let him down time and time again. Then, standing on his own two feet, he was asked to write a book about his facial palsy called ‘Why The Long Face’. He started podcasting instead but always wanted to come back into the comedy world that gave him respite from his life growing up. This is his debut solo show. “This is not just a great first show, this is just a great show. Highly recommended.” - Wil Anderson “A very funny human” - Missy Higgins “I love Sammy. What sort of phukfeatures doesn’t love Sammy?” - Tim Minchin

When operating as a production unit The Séance has contributed tracks to A Year In The Country alongside remix work for various valued compadres. It will do some more of all this at some point once it pulls its finger out. Pete Wiggs is otherwise available as one third of Saint Etienne and Dem (aka James Papademetrie) isn't. Rohan Arneil | The Never-Ending Smoko | Good Chat Comedy Club
Jun 21, 2025 (UTC+10)
Terrace
This year I lost my savings by accidentally starting a kitchen fire where no one was hurt except my ego. I spent weekends working Saturdays to fight my way back into the lower middle class. But now the thought of even seeing a jackhammer makes me feel ill, all I’m dreaming of is a never-ending smoko preferably in Bali in the 80’s before Perth found out about it.
More jokes about TAFE, hi-vis and decadent sweet treats, high interest short term loans and how we end up where we are, than any other show in the festival/world. Rohan Arneil has performed stand-up all over Australia and internationally, has appeared at the Sydney Comedy Store, opened for Jimeoin, been a contributor to The Chaser’s Australia book, and toured with the 2023 and 2024 Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase.
Rohan’s debut hour, ‘Top of the Food Chain’, sold out all shows at Sydney Fringe (2023) and Sydney Comedy Festival (2024). “I’m so jealous of how funny Rohan is, but I push down that feeling and I wish him well. Go see his show.” – Becky Lucas FINALIST - Funniest Person in Austin, 2019

Maddie Morris and Lunatraktors Live at All Hallows Leeds | All Hallows Church & Community Projects
Jun 21, 2025 (UTC+0)
Terrace
Maddie Morris and Lunatraktors double headline tour reaches Leeds. Maddie Maddie Morris is an artist who strives to make a difference in the world. Bold, insightful and refreshingly unique, they take traditional song in new directions to shine a light on contemporary issues. Folk songs have always told stories, but how Maddie makes their mark is by turning this storytelling into action. Described by Jim Moray as “leading the next generation of socially conscious songwriters”, they use their work to highlight inequality, challenge viewpoints and provide an inclusive space for shared experiences. Whether they’re turning a centuries-old ballad on its head or writing something new, Maddie places their focus on drawing out true meaning rather than being true to tradition. Their debut studio album, Skin, (release February 2024) is a beautifully crafted collection of songs which amplifies the stories of those often marginalised by society. Passionately political, yet gently understated, this is music that deftly treads the path between art and activism. Lunatraktors Lunatraktors is a collaboration between artist, choreographer and percussionist Carli Jefferson (she/her), and artist, vocalist and researcher Clair Le Couteur (they/them). The project started in 2017 with the post-apocalyptic question: what's left when we've lost everything? Stripping folk song down to the bare bones, Lunatraktors’ 'broken folk' blends Le Couteur’s overtone singing and 3+ octave range with the hybrid of tap dance, flamenco and body percussion that Jefferson developed after touring with STOMP (2001-2004). The pair turned heads when their DIY debut This Is Broken Folk – percussion and vocals recorded live in a viaduct arch by Ramsgate harbour – made MOJO Magazine's Top Ten Folk Albums of 2019. Jefferson’s compulsion to dance while drumming prompted Lunatraktors to assemble a tonal percussion kit, providing both rhythm and melody. Added resonances come from Le Couteur’s free-reed instruments, whistles and analogue synth. Reimagining Anglo-Celtic folk through a shared teenage absorption in jungle, drum’n’bass, triphop, art rock and post-punk, Lunatraktors have built up a passionate fan base at festivals, galleries, museums, theatres and queer cabarets. A double act in the old fashioned sense, Jefferson’s hyper-expressive performance style meets Le Couteur’s channelled voices of multiple tragicomic characters. Second album The Missing Star was #2 in MOJO Magazine’s Top Ten Folk Albums of 2021. Recent commissions include: Ten Songs for a Lar; Invisible Worlds (UCL, National Trust); a British Music Collection LGBTQ+ Composer Award; and ‘Beyond the Binary’ – exploring gender expression in Music Hall, Pantomime and Variety (Kent Library Archives). About the Venue All Hallows Leeds has a strong reputation as a Queer friendly space. The building is all on one level giving good access for people with mobility issues, There is a large wheelchair accessible toilet (labelled as all gender) as well as other toilets. The room is usually all seated but should have space to get up and move around, seats in rows but expect a couple of sofas at the back of the room. Bar details will be added nearer the time (i.e. once we know what we are doing ) There is a small carpark at the front of the venue but if you need park directly next to the door please do message in advance. > The gigs are organised by a small number of friends who are passionate about music, we only put on 2 or 3 gig a year for acts we absolutely love. Anyone with access questions please do message and we will answer and do our best to accommodate.
