“Blood & Hate reads like a thriller: a raw, unflinching saga of survival, betrayal, and the kind of obsession that turns underdogs into kings. Wedge delivers Hagler’s story like a haymaker to the jaw—brutal, brilliant, and impossible to forget.”—Ben Mezrich, New York Times bestselling author of The Accidental Billionaires, Bringing Down the House and Dumb Money. Most know Marvelous Marvin Hagler from his epic battles against Thomas Hearns and John Mugabi and his controversial split-decision loss to Sugar Ray Leonard. But it is his escape from riot-torn Newark in the late 1960s, the unbreakable bond he built with the Petronelli brothers, and his 1980 title fight against Britain’s Alan Minter—with its deep racial animus—that captures the real story of Hagler. In Blood & Hate, New York Times bestselling author Dave Wedge tells the riveting and inspirational tale of how Hagler overcame incredible odds, joined with Goody and Pat Petronelli to rise through the rigged ranks, and morphed from a fatherless teenager in Brockton, Massachusetts, into Marvelous Marvin Hagler, one of the best boxers ever and arguably the greatest middleweight in history. Through exclusive interviews with Bob Arum, the Petronelli and Hagler families, and a who's who of the boxing world, Blood & Hate reveals fascinating details about Hagler's early life as well as the legendary Minter fight, and once and for all delivers the definitive chronicle of Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Dave Wedge is a New York Times bestselling author based in Boston. He has co-written five books with acclaimed author Casey Sherman, including Boston Strong: A City's Triumph Over Tragedy, a nonfiction drama about the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings adapted for the 2017 movie Patriots Day; Ice Bucket Challenge: Pete Frates and the Fight Against ALS; 12: The Inside Story of Tom Brady's Fight for Redemption; Hunting Whitey: The Inside Story of the Capture and Killing of America’s Most Wanted Crime Boss; and The Last Days of John Lennon, written with James Patterson. His latest bestseller, Riding With Evil: Taking Down the Notorious Pagans Motorcycle Gang, is the true story of ATF agent Ken Croke, the only police officer to ever infiltrate the Pagans, the ultraviolent rivals of the Hells Angels. The book is currently in development as a feature film. Dave is aslo a writer for Boston magazine, has written for VICE, Esquire, and Newsweek and was an award-winning investigative journalist for the Boston Herald for fourteen years. He has appeared on NBC News, CNN, MSNBC, E!, France 24, Fox News Channel, Good Morning America and many other local and national networks. Information Source: Barnes and Noble Bryn Mawr | eventbrite

Kettlebell 101: Simple & Sinister™Accept no compromises. Between power and conditioning. Between strength and flexibility. Between being an athlete and looking like one. Enter the kettlebell—the only training tool able to deliver all aspects of extreme fitness with no compromises. No-one knows how to wield this tool better than StrongFirst, the kettlebell ground zero. Taking the Kettlebell 101 workshop is like walking into the pages of Pavel’s ground-breaking book Kettlebell Simple & Sinister. You will learn the kettlebell exercises that deliver great gains while having the steepest learning curve: The Swing—build a back of steel, sprinter’s glutes, fighter’s conditioning, and a blue-collar gripThe Get-up—forge resilient shoulders and bullet-proof absThe Goblet Squat—develop a killer blend of strength and flexibilityKettlebell safety and other boring stuff that pros swear by and amateurs ignore at their own riskInsider strategies for long term sustainable training to reach your goalsPavel’s “Alt-S&S” programming—totally in line with the book, yet with unique wrinklesThe day after the workshop you will be able to hit the ground running towards your goals. Kettlebell 201: The Rite of Passage Suggested Prerequisites-To attend this workshop, you need to be competent in swings, get-ups, and goblet squats. Ignore at your peril. -Learn these skills from a Kettlebell 101 workshop, a StrongFirst accredited gym, or a StrongFirst certified SFG instructor. Once you have reached the impressive yet realistic “Timeless Simple” standard, you have choices to make. Stay on a monastic diet of swings and get-ups, slowly chipping away at “Sinister.” Or try something “same but different”: the snatch plus the clean and military press, the classic Rite of Passage. The Snatch is “the Tsar of the kettlebell lifts.” Thanks to more muscles working and twice the distance travelled, it accomplishes even more than the esteemed swing. Achieve total body explosive power, ruthless conditioning, and a vice like grip. Burn fat like never before. All with a lighter kettlebell—save space in your home, car trunk, or deployment kit. Once we have taught you the skills with our usual attention to detail, we will send you off to succeed with a Strong Endurance™ snatch plan. The one-arm Clean-and-Press will rival any other pressing exercise when it comes to shoulder strength and muscular development. It is untouchable when it comes to shoulder health, thanks to its ergonomic perfection. The military press comes equipped with the “Rite of Passage” type programming—possibly the most reliable progression ever. Three versions of the ROP—“Jurassic,” “907 Hypertrophy,” and “Heavy”—will keep you gaining for a long time. Kettlebell 201 ROP sets high goals—and gives you the skills and the roadmap to reach them. Sign up and power to you! Registration Cancellation by Participant:Registration fees are non-refundable. No refunds will be granted.
