Join us for a natural dye workshop featuring plants grown on site at TPM and sourced from our seed orchard. Megan Warren will teach you how to transfer natural pigments through the technique of flower pounding, an immediate and very fun way of using flowers and plant materials to create designs on fabrics. You will be surprised by the colours you can extract! Each participant will receive a tote bag to use as their printing surface. Megan will also be demonstrating immersion dying. Participants will have the opportunity to dye embroidery floss to embellish their tote bag. Learn a new skill and get excited about what pigments you can grow and forage in your own yard and neighbourhood!  Facilitator: Megan MK Warren Artist, educator, and natural dye expert www.mkwarrenarts.co m Workshop Activities: Flower Pounding on Tote Bags Learn this simple techniqe for transfering colour and patterns onto a cotton tote bag. materials this hands-on session introduces the technique of flower pounding—a tactile and accessible way to transfer natural colors from flowers onto fabric. Materials will be sourced from the seed orchard and TPM plantings. Immersion Dying Megan will guide participants through small-batch dyeing using goldenrod and two different mordants, demonstrating how mordant choices influence final color.  Dye embroidery thread to use on your tote bag and get inspired for your future natural dye projects! Other Learning Opportunities: Ask TPM staff about ecological and climate-focused landscaping. Learn how to design gardens that support native plants, pollinators, and local wildlife—all while creating beauty and resilience in your green spaces and community.  Refreshments: Light refreshments will be provided.
