Megumi is a life-long foodie, try-and-error bread baker, casual fermenter, beginner forager, intuitive cook, stubborn gardener, and more than anything else, a global food justice educator with firm commitment in local food. A proud city-kid, she grew up in Tokyo and moved to the US some 40 + years ago. She lived in Florida; Freiburg, Germany; Washington DC; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; back in Tokyo; Seattle; and a very rural area of Colorado for study and work. We'll learn about Ayurvedic perspectives on food and nutrition and cook a few medicinal dishes. We'll also explore the connections between Ayurveda and social justice through interactive dialogues and reflections.  Prita has been an educator and activist for over 20 years and has ancestral roots in Ayurveda as a child of South Asian immigrants. She was an organizer at Casa Atabex Ache (the House of Womyn’s Power) in the South Bronx, where she co-facilitated monthly healing circles for womxn of color based on earth-based modalities. She completed a 200 RYT at Yoga to the People,  an Ayurveda Health Coach program at the MN Institute of Ayurveda, and most recently studied Ayurvedic cooking and nutrition at Greens Ayurveda in Mahe, Kerala in South India.
