Rising of the Remnant | 2459 Candler Rd

Jul 26, 2025 (UTC-4)
Decatur
Cultural Experiences
A sound is being released not just heard, but felt in the spirit. It is the clarion call of the King, summoning His remnant those who never bowed to Baal, who kept their conviction when others compromised, and who refused to let their fire go out . This is not a conference. This is a divine convergence. A summons for those forged in hiddenness, purified by fire, and mantled for kingdom assignment. This is apostolic. This is prophetic. This is governmental. At Rising of the Remnant , mantles will fall. Assignments will be clarified. Oil will be poured. The unseen will be unveiled and the overlooked will be positioned in power . This is a birthing ground for reformers, intercessors, prophets, apostles, and kingdom voices who carry Heaven's burden. If you've carried the weight of the call, felt the tension of transition, and burned quietly in the background this is your release point. It’s time to rise. Come hungry. Come postured. Come ready. The remnant is rising with fire , with clarity , and with kingdom authority . Information Source: Nick Hardy | eventbrite

D&D Camp, Session 2 | Little Shop of Stories

Jul 28, 2025 (UTC-4)
Decatur
Cultural Experiences
As the companions nervously slink into the chamber, your heart rate triples and you hear a low rumble. “What is it?” your friend asks. Before you can answer, there’s a clatter as you stumble on a loose stone. The low rumble stops suddenly, and a monstrous roar fills the cavern. “I woke the dragon,” you say, “RUN!” Calling all rogues, warlocks, druids, and barbarians! D&D camp is about all things Dungeons & Dragons and role-playing games. Not only will kids create characters to go on epic adventures, but we will fill our days with crafts, games, and activities connected to this wonderful game! Your child does not have to have already played D&D, they just have to come prepared with enthusiasm and lots of imagination! All camps are daycamps and will be held Monday through Friday . The camp day starts at 9 a.m. and runs to 4 p.m. promptly. There is no aftercare, early drop-off, or partial week option. The cost of each week of camp is $400. Weather permitting, campers walk to Ebster Pool on Thursday mornings and typically spend lunchtime at a nearby park. Campers bring their own lunch, snacks, water bottles, and sunscreen every day. Little Shop camps are a wonderful place for play, imagination, and friendship. All activities are geared for group rather than individual attention. Please note that our staff is not trained to work with children with special needs, nor do we have the staffing to meet the needs of children who require intensive individual assistance. If you have concerns, please communicate with us as soon as possible so that we can begin a discussion. If we determine we are unable to meet your child's needs, for the safety of your child, other campers, and camp staff we will ask that your child be withdrawn from camp. Cancellation Policy--Please read before registering for camp! Information Source: Little Shop of Stories | eventbrite

The Memory Hunters: Mia Tsai in Conversation with L. D. Lewis | Decatur Library, DeKalb County Public Library

Jul 29, 2025 (UTC-4)
Decatur
Arts
Literary Arts
This event takes place at the Decatur Library. This event is free and open to the public but registration is requested. Charis and the Georgia Center for the Book welcome Mia Tsai in conversation with L. D. Lewis for a discussion of The Memory Hunters , a sapphic, dark academia-adjacent, climate dystopia -- with mushrooms. A cinematic, slow burn, romantic fantasy following a headstrong academic and her equally stubborn bodyguard as they unearth an ancient secret that rocks the foundations of their society…and challenges their unspoken love for one another. Kiana Strade can dive deeper into blood memories than anyone alive. But instead of devoting her talents to the temple she’s meant to lead, Key wants to do research for the Museum of Human Memory. . . and to avoid the public eye. Valerian IV's twin swords protect Key from murderous rivals and her own enthusiasm alike. Vale cares about Key as a friend—and maybe more—but most of all, she needs to keep her job so she can support her parents and siblings in the storm-torn south. But when Key collects a memory that diverges from official history, only Vale sees the fallout. Key’s mentor suspiciously dismisses the finding; her powerful mother demands she stop research altogether. And Key, unusually affected by the memory, begins to lose moments, then minutes, then days. As Vale becomes increasingly entangled in Key’s obsessive drive for answers, the women uncover a shattering discovery—and a devastating betrayal. Key and Vale can remain complicit, or they can jeopardize everything for the truth. Either way, Key is becoming consumed by the past in more ways than one, and time is running out. About the Author Mia Tsai is a Taiwanese American author of speculative fiction, including Bitter Medicine and The Memory Hunters . An editor at GigaNotoSaurus , a 2024 Hugo Finalist for Best Semi-pro Zine, she is also a musician, teacher, and erstwhile photographer who attended Carnegie Mellon University and Georgia State University. She lives in the Atlanta area with her family, and, when not writing, is a hype woman for her orchids and devoted cat gopher. She can be found online at MiaTsai.com, itsamia.bsky.social on BlueSky, and @mia.tsai.books on Instagram and Tiktok. About the Conversation Partner L. D. She also runs the Ignyte Awards and pays the bills as a literary nonprofit administrator at Lambda Literary and Clarion West. Upcoming titles include novella The Dead Withheld (Neon Hemlock, 2025), and her debut novel Year of the Mer is forthcoming from Saga Press in 2026. About the Book: Born in the firelit domain of the under realm, Matilda is the youngest goddess of her clan, blessed with humble messenger magic. But in a land where gods often kill each other to steal power and alliances break as quickly as they are forged, Matilda must come of age sooner than most. She may be known to carry words and letters through the realms, but she holds a secret she must hide from even her dearest of allies to ensure her survival. And to complicate matters . . . there is a mortal boy who dreams of her, despite the fact they have never met in the waking world.Ten years ago, Vincent of Beckett wrote to Matilda on the darkest night of his life—begging the goddess he befriended in dreams to help him. When his request went unanswered, Vincent moved on, becoming the hardened, irreverent lord of the river who has long forgotten Matilda. That is, until she comes tumbling into his bedroom window with a letter for him.As Fate would have it, Matilda and Vincent were destined to find each other beyond dreams. There may be a chance for Matilda to rewrite the blood-soaked ways of the gods, but at immense sacrifice. She will have to face something she fears even more than losing her magic: to be vulnerable, and to allow herself to finally be loved. About the Author: Rebecca Ross is the #1 New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author of fantasy books for teens and adults. She has written multiple highly acclaimed duologies, including Letters of Enchantment, Elements of Cadence, and The Queen's Rising as well as two standalone novels: Dreams Lie Beneath and Sisters of Sword & Song . Come to Spring Fever & Support All Small Businesses Audacity Magazine & Events is teaming up again with Independent Distilling for an evening of showcasing local small businesses. Find your next favorite candle vendor, clothing boutique, and more, with unique items crafted by Atlanta's most skilled merchants. Every dollar spent at our spring market supports businesses in our community, including our hosts at Independent Distilling Company, home of our signature drink, The Audacity cocktail. Enjoy food with Domo’s Exquisite Cuisine , vibe with singer and songwriter Sienna Jade , and bring the kiddos for free crafts with Montessori instructor Mansi Tanna while you sip and shop. Plus, we're having a r affle to support new theatrical works in Atlanta! Donate to Jessica Wise's upcoming production of The Bridge Club for a chance to win prizes from our sponsors and vendors . It's $10 for 1 ticket and $20 for 3 tickets . We're accepting donations in cash or via GoFundMe, Zelle, and Venmo. Want to become a vendor? Complete our FREE Vendor Application by April 2nd. Your reservation includes a non-competing space to sell your products, plus a listing on Audacity's Fetch List , our public directory of vendors, entrepreneurs, and freelancers. Vendors will need to bring their own tables. Entry is FREE for patrons. RSVP is welcome, but not required. Cash bar/food and free parking will be available. This event is MARTA accessible via Decatur and Avondale stations. _______________________________ First time at an Audacity event?
