Teams of two, consisting of male-male (MM), female-female (FF), or male-female (MF) pairs, can compete in various divisions including Rx, Intermediate, and Scaled. The RX division will challenge athletes with weights and movements from the CrossFit Open, ensuring a true test of strength and skill. Expect to showcase your proficiency in exercises such as thrusters, cleans, overhead squats, snatches, push jerks, Assault Bike, rowing, chest-to-bar pull-ups, toes-to-bar, and rope climbs. For those who find themselves in the middle and undecided whether to compete in the scaled or Rx division, the Intermediate division provides the perfect balance. This division caters to individuals with 1-3 years of experience and offers similar movements to Rx, with weights adjusted to suit your skill level. If you're comfortable with movements like thrusters, power cleans, power snatches, burpees, and DB power snatches, the Scaled division is ideal. This division excludes certain advanced movements such as chest-to-bar pull-ups, double unders, legless rope climbs, full snatches, and pistols. Teams of Two MM, FF, MF Rx, Intermediate and Scaled Standards: The weights for RX division will include any weight/movements from the Crossfit Open that we have seen before! You should be efficient in thrusters, cleans, OHS, snatch, push-jerks, Assault Bike, Rowing, C2B, T2B, Rope Climbs, or a major strength efficiency. Finals will include high skill demands like Ring/Bar MU, HSPU, rope climbs, Pistols, BB Complexes. Intermediate- Think a lot of people are in the middle and get stuck on whether to be in scaled or Rx. This would be the right division for you. Pretty simlair with the movements, just look below at the weights to have idea of barbells. Usually if you have 1-3 years of exprience and depending on skill level then this is where you would go. Scaled- Should be comfortable in thrusters, p. cleans, p. snatch, burpees, DB Pwr Snatch, Assault Bike, Rowing, at least one partner with 2-3 Unbroken Pull Ups at a time. Scaled will not need the following: chest to bar, double unders, legless rope climbs, full snatches, pistols. Finals may include slightly higher difficulties! ***Please get into the division that you should be in, alot of times we see teams that should be in intermediate and they are in scaled etc. No sandbagging!!!!! As for some of the weights below: We are not saying for sure you will see a Rx 155 snatch or a 155 Intermediate clean and jerk, we are giving a range of what it could be. Artist Bio Halima Afi Cassells (b. 1981) is an award-winning interdisciplinary community-engaged artist, mom of three, avid gardener, with deep roots in Waawiiyaataanong/ Detroit, MI. Born into a creative family, her parents photographed her unsolicited murals and fashions as a kid, encouraging her exploration. Community is the heart of her work. She credits gardening as inspiring her move away from painting to a practice where she aspires to use natural, found, and up-cycled materials and processes that lend to the thriving of all (human and non-human) communities. Halima continues to explore relationship-building, and the notions of freedom and work, value and disposability in a participatory context through projects like: The Free Market of Detroit, The Traveling Indigo Vat, her Tables and Thrones series, and collective collage-making. Awarded the 2023 Kresge Arts in Detroit fellowship for interdisciplinary art, Cassells continually dives down rabbit holes seeking to understand the interconnectedness of systems and self. A self-guided student of anthropology, macroeconomics, British imperialism and common law, global corporatism, climate crisis, and psychology; she uses her art with the intent of returning to a 'right relationship.' She has also spearheaded many processes that uplift cultural capital from often-exploited communities and creates in a collaborative context. She has been awarded grants from: Panta Rhea Foundation, BulkSpace, WDET, Art Matters, Culture Source, Knight Foundation Arts Challenge, Artplace America, and Seed+Bloom Detroit.
