Tickets are free for those from a Refugee / Asylum seeking background. Together Productions is a not-for-profit organisation without any core funding, so we do appreciate attendees paying what they can to attend. About Dr Philip Woodmore: Dr. Philip A. Woodmore is a celebrated composer, educator, and community leader whose work has shaped the intersection of music, theater, and social justice. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Woodmore is the author of Antigone in Ferguson: A Journey Through the Transformative Power of Music, a reflective work on using art to foster dialogue and healing. He is widely recognized for his compositions and productions, including Antigone in Ferguson, which brought Sophocles’ tragedy to life through gospel music, and Team M, an original musical addressing mental health in communities of color. With 20 years of experience teaching middle school choir and leadership roles at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA) in St. Louis, Dr. Woodmore has dedicated his career to empowering young voices. His passion for community engagement has led him to collaborations with Theater of War Productions, performances with Little Amal, and work with civic leaders to use music as a tool for unity and resilience. Dr. Woodmore’s workshops and projects inspire participants to connect deeply with their communities and discover the transformative power of the arts. www.philipawoodmore.com Philip and Together Productions have been collaborating since 2020, initially as part of the Twilight Sessions, a ground-breaking online workshop series featuring internationally renowned vocal artists and musical experts, and subsequently on the Singing Our Lives programme in 2022, an international collaboration which resulted in a new global composition. About Together Productions: Together Productions is a ground-breaking social change organisation based in the UK. We produce innovative collaborative arts projects that connect people, organisations and audiences across social and cultural divides. We use music and the arts as a catalyst to break down barriers, reduce isolation and enhance well-being. We produce high quality artistic work that is grown through creative collaboration, participation and experimentation. Our work includes those who are marginalised or excluded, such as displaced people and those seeking sanctuary, people facing mental health challenges, the elderly, the financially disadvantaged and socially excluded. We know that choirs are an incredible way to build community, improve mental health and build empathy and therefore choral singing is a big part of our work. About Singing Our Lives: This event is part of Singing Our Lives, a ground-breaking project bringing displaced people and those seeking sanctuary and local communities together with professional musicians to explore stories, to create new work and perform together. Conceived and developed by Together Productions, Singing Our Lives (SOL) has attracted partners including the Royal Opera House, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the International Organization for Migration, amongst many others. Initially a one off project in 2017, Singing Our Lives has become a rolling programme which celebrates diversity and solidarity through singing and creativity. SOL has pioneered a unique collaborative dialogue and composition process that results in powerful new works reflecting the culture and experiences of hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds across the UK and beyond.
