A Q&A with the audience will follow the conversation. About Tony Marsh: Tony Marsh earned his BFA in Ceramic Art at California State University Long Beach in 1978. After graduating he spent 3 years in Mashiko, Japan at the workshop of Master Mingei potter and Living National Treasure, Tatsuzo Shimaoka. Marsh completed his MFA at Alfred University in 1988. He teaches in the Ceramic Arts Program at California State University Long Beach where was the Program Chair for 25 years. Tony was the first Director of the Center for Contemporary Ceramics at CSULB. Marsh has taught, lectured and exhibited extensively throughout the US, Asia and Europe. Tony was recognized as a 2018 United States Artist Fellow. Introducing The Cold Feet Tour, a traveling experience by songwriter Meredith Adelaide and poet Micah Bournes. Class Pre-requisites:Age – participants must be 15 years old by the last day of the class.Blended Certificate – to participate in the in-person part of this course, participants must present their blended coursework certificate of completion to the instructor either in printed hard copy or electronic via smartphone as soon as class begins.Participants must pass the following Red Cross required swim tests at the beginning of class. If you sign up but cannot pass the prerequisites, refunds will not be given.Swim-tread-swim sequence: swim 6 laps, tread water for 2 minutes with hands under arms, swim two laps. Swimming can be done in either freestyle or breaststrokeBrick Tow: Jump in shallow and swim to deep end, grab brick, tow back to shallow endWe highly suggest you do some pool work if you are not conditioned to swim. This exhibition features a selection of works in painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, and film, exploring the relationship between art-making and the psyche, including memories, traumas, and experiences. The exhibition features work by Amir H. Fallah, Analia Saban, Aryana Minai, Jamal Gunn Becker, Mia Weiner, Mike Nesbit, Molly Haynes, Shaniqwa Jarvis, Thomas Linder, and Todd Tourso. Focusing on materiality, process, absence, presence, and the relationship with the unconscious, When The Veil Thins seeks to illuminate the multifaceted ways in which artists grapple with personal and collective experiences, ultimately finding avenues of expression and healing through art-making.
