Lunchtime Talk - Wildlife Corridors | Robinswood Hill Country Park

Jul 22, 2025 (UTC+1)
Gloucester Tops
Cultural Experiences
Imagine being shipwrecked on a "desert island"? All alone but just on the horizon you can see a bustling landmass full of resources and people. How would you get there? What would you life be like if you couldn't get there? Wildlife throughout the county is living on land locked "desert islands", unable to leave to get to resources they need to florurish. The distance from island to island is too far or too hostile for them to traverse through, so what are they to do? This is where wildlife corridors come into play. By developing suitable environments between the islands, wildlife can move, reproduce and prosper. Megan Adamou, Community Action Officer for Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust will be keying us in all about wildlife corridors and what we can do to help. We expect this event to be popular so get your tickets while you can. (It will also be available via Livestream at Facebook. for those who can't attend)" (Photo Credit: Lisa Fotios) Information Source: Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust | eventbrite

Ghosts & Giggles at Llanthony Secunda Priory | Llanthony Secunda Priory

Jul 25, 2025 (UTC+1)
Gloucester Tops
Cultural Experiences
Join Becki and the Ghosts & Giggles team for an unforgettable night of ghost hunting at Llanthony Secunda Priory. As we explore the historic grounds, we’ll be searching for the mysterious Lady in White, the huddled family, and the lost priors of centuries past. A Place Steeped in History Founded in 1136 by Miles de Gloucester, 1st Earl of Hereford, the priory was established after Augustinian canons were forced to flee the original Llanthony Priory near Monmouth due to attacks from the local Welsh population. Llanthony Secunda became known for its cheese-making tradition, with records from 1502 showing the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Prior of Llanthony gifting Llanthony Cheese to Elizabeth of York, the wife of Henry VII. Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the priory was sold by the Crown to Arthur Porter, whose family lived in parts of the building until 1697, after which it was used as a farmstead. Today, only fragments of the once-grand priory remain, including the Tithe Barn, Medieval Range, Western Gatehouse, Victorian Farmhouse, and the 16th-century Brick Range. These eerie and atmospheric spaces will be the setting for our paranormal experiments. Im portant Information: Wear comfortable, waterproof shoes Bring a torch Dress appropriately for the weather, as we will be exploring both indoors and outdoors Prepare for a night of chills, mystery, and the unknown. Will you encounter the spirits of Llanthony Secunda Priory? Information Source: Llanthony Secunda Priory | eventbrite

Once a month drop-in sessions for adults that are suitable for everyone. You don’t need any previous experience in contact improv or contemporary dance; the sessions are open to all abilities. The workshops run on the last Saturdays of the month; 10am-12pm in the dance studio at Gloucester Guildhall. The workshops are led by Lizzie Hewitt, who has been teaching for 15 years. SPECIAL ONE-OFF SESSIONS: Saturday 26 July: Facilitated by Jan-Ming Lee! Jan-Ming’s love of contact improvisation began 20 years ago. Since then, she has been nurtured and challenged by its creativity and contradictions of freedom, risk and play. Amongst many things, she is informed by her ancestral healing practice, an ongoing study of Chinese Daoist internal energy arts, somatic bodywork, Afro-Brazilian martial art of Capoeira, and trauma-informed approaches advocating choice, consent, equity, compassion and pleasure. Saturday 30 August: Facilitated by Billy Maxwell-Taylor! Billy is an interdisciplinary choreographer, creating spaces that strive to offer ‘stillness in the busyness’, a core mantra of his work. Saturday 27 September: SPECIAL GUEST SURPRISE! Booking is highly recommended as space is limited. You can pay with cash, bank transfer or PayPal on the day. Cultural Experiences
Hearing about Eelscapes, you may be conjuring up images of eels dominating the landscape? In a way they once did as they were so abundant in Gloucestershire, now they are critically endangered and urgently need our support. But the Eelscapes project is so much more than eels. The River Severn's natural floodplain has been drastically altered by humans over hundreds of years. And the vision of Eelscapes is to return these floodplains to a more natural condition by developing a range of carefully targeted conservation actions . Examples include changes to ditch networks, creating ponds and water features, and working with land-owners to change their farming practices. Ben Spencer, Eelscapes Stakeholder Adviser, will share with us how Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, WWT , the Environment Agency and 22 local are working together to develop a network of connected wetland sites along the Severn Vale corridor and what this means for wildlife and people. We expect this event to be popular so get your tickets while you can. Cérémonie du cacao & voyage intérieur | CHALETS DES PINS

Jun 7, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Rawdon Vale
Cultural Experiences
