Training Workshop:
AFTERMATH: Crisis, Chaos, and the Cost of Silence
Abstract:
An Immersive Post-Breach Simulation Workshop
When a breach hits your organization, it’s not the technology that makes or breaks your response—it’s the humans in the room.
Aftermath: ORYX
is an immersive, instructor-led simulation that places participants inside a multinational organization reeling from a major data breach. A phishing email has triggered the compromise of sensitive financial, client, and employee data. What happens next is up to you—and your team.
This is not a lecture. This is a live crisis.
Each participant is assigned to a department — Public Relations, Legal, Security, Human Resources, or Executive Leadership. Some will receive secret rogue roles working against the team. Throughout the day, teams will respond to unfolding events, face unexpected twists, and be scored on how well they maintain legal, operational, reputational, and internal stability.
Led by renowned human behavior and social engineering expert
Christopher Hadnagy
, this workshop trains participants to communicate, coordinate, and lead under pressure.
Participants will learn to:
Communicate clearly across departments under stress
Recognize and respond to rogue influences and misinformation
Coordinate response strategy across legal, technical, and human priorities
Experience firsthand how small missteps escalate into major damage
Debrief the incident using metrics of trust, risk, morale, and containment
Build a repeatable, human-centric breach response framework
Audience:
CISOs, in-house counsel, crisis communicators, security team leads, IR pros, tabletop veterans, and high-stakes decision-makers.
You’ll walk away with:
A post-breach playbook shaped by failure and success
Insight into how rogue actors shape narrative and fracture teams
Tools for real-world crisis response and communication
A deep understanding of the
human behavior failures
that amplify technical breaches
Seats are limited. Not everyone survives the
Aftermath
.

Apr 26, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Winter Park
Join us for a transformative retreat inspired by "Ladder to the Light: An Indigenous Elder's Meditations on Hope and Courage" by Steven Charleston. Our day together includes meditation, time in nature, connection with self and others and a healthy lunch. Drawing from Indigenous wisdom, we'll explore pathways to hope and courage.
In these times of stress and discomfort we invite you to slow down, engage in reflective practices, explore the Principles for How We Treat Each Other, and practice the art of asking honest and open questions as a means of knowing self and others.
The day begins with coffee and connection. Lunch is included in the registration. The location at San Pedro Retreat Center offers the chance to walk the grounds, visit the lake, and enjoy nature.
Native America knows something about cultivating resilience and resisting darkness. For all who yearn for hope,
Ladder to the Light
is a book of comfort, truth, and challenge in a time of anguish and fear.
Iron Eagle is a Chiricahua Apache medicine man and traditional Sun Dancer. Rooted deeply in his Indigenous heritage, he was guided in the traditional and spiritual ways of the Chiricahua Apache by his grandfather and mother. Iron Eagle walks the path of healing and ceremony, sharing teachings that invite reflection, renewal, and a return to balance.

With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Lianna designs and leads programs that integrate mindfulness, trauma-informed practice, and equity-centered leadership. She directs the Teacher Academy, Facilitator Certification Program, and leadership development initiatives that support hundreds of educators, staff, and students each year. A professor at Valencia College and recipient of the Faculty Association Award for Excellence in Teaching, Counseling, and Librarianship, Lianna is also a graduate of Spirit Rock’s Mindful Leadership program and mindfulness teacher.
Her work is grounded in a deep belief that education—when rooted in connection, love and a recognition of our inherent worth and dignity—has the power to transform lives.
Celine Kavalec
has been an educator for 30 years at Valencia College in different capacities, but always connected to teaching. She recently stepped down from directing Valencia’s Teaching/Learning Academy, a nationally recognized program that supports professors as they expand and improve their practice and earn tenure, to return to the classroom and begin work with the Peace and Justice Initiative.
Dis-ease and relational pain led her to meditation nearly 20 years ago, when she learned to meditate from an energy healer, Maria De St Croix, in Red Bank, New Jersey. This early mantra-based meditation method eventually transformed into mindfulness meditation after taking her first Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course. The journey from college professor to MBSR instructor was a natural evolution in her consciousness and development as a teacher.
Celine is a qualified MBSR instructor, trained through the University of Massachusetts Center for Mindfulness Teacher Training program. She currently teaches mindfulness to students and faculty at Valencia and in the Central Florida community. She entered teaching because of a desire to help others and sees mindfulness as the means to bring healing and joy to herself and others.
You can reach her at amindfulcenterfl@gmail.com or through her website amindfulcenterfl.com.
She wishes presence and peace to all.

Closing Reception & Artist Talk: Covering Carbon (Orlando) | UCF Art Gallery
Sep 29, 2023 (UTC-5)ENDED
Winter Park
Join the UCF Art Gallery for the Closing Reception & Artist Talk: Covering Carbon, an exhibition featuring the thought-provoking work of Kathleen Thum. This engaging exhibition delves into the intricate relationship between humans and fossil fuels. Through a series of captivating drawings and cut-paper wall installations, Thum explores the physical and material qualities of coal and oil, shedding light on our disconnection and dependence on these resources. By employing various visual and conceptual methods, the exhibition underscores the profound influence of fossil fuels on our contemporary society, while also acknowledging their enigmatic nature, manipulated by the industry. Immerse yourself in the multi-sensory experience offered by the large-scale cut-paper installations that depict the vastness of the petroleum infrastructure, evoking both a physical and emotional response to the petroleum landscape. Additionally, the charcoal drawings capture the dark and tangible impact of coal on our environment, compelling us to confront the environmental consequences of our reliance on this resource. Covering Carbon urges us to reflect critically on our relationship with fossil fuels and how art can inspire change in the face of the current climate crisis. Don't miss the Closing Reception & Artist Talk on September 29, 2023, from 5-7pm at the UCF Art Gallery in Orlando, FL.
