Savage Collective Meets Doomer Optimism Come join us at the Nimick Center in Ligonier, PA for a unique Doomer Optimism Gathering hosted by the Savage Collective! In the midst of the Machine Age, we come together to ask urgent questions about how to live, love, and build resilient communities. This gathering is a space to wrestle with the forces reshaping our world—from the pressures of technology on family life to the ideological battles defining American politics. We’ll explore the shifting landscapes of sex, marriage, and meaning in an era of uncertainty, sharing ideas on how to push back against the Machine. Through lively conversation and insights from leading writers, thinkers, and activists, we’ll uncover ways to reclaim personal freedom, reimagine relationships, and cultivate spaces of creative resistance. Beyond formal programming, we will also engage in poetry readings, sing-alongs, shared meals, and spirited debates over drinks. There will be plenty of time for toasts, laughter, and unhurried, meaningful conversations that deepen connections and spark fresh insights. Information Source: eventbrite

Reet Good Wood is a creative space for late diagnosed Neurodivergent Adults, those awaiting diagnosis or those who self identify as being neurodivergent. There is a distinct lack of long term peer support for adults who are diagnosed later in life. Our sessions are for people who want to come together with other people like them. We got fed up of being sent to counselling and CBT, when all we really needed was just to be around people who'get it.' So, this space is for us! To meet others, to vent, to be our authentic selves and to just hang out, without being made to feel like there's 'something wrong' with us. In this session we will provide classic board games, playing cards, jigsaws and dominoes for you to use / play. All you need to do is book and turn up.Chat amongst yourselves if you want to, or sit with headphones on if you don't. Absolutely no pressure. Just come and play games with other neurodivergent adults. It's really chilled and a great friendly, supportive atmosphere.Soft drinks, loads of Tea and Coffee, and snacks are all included. Please bring your own if you have any special dietary requirements. We ask for a £3 contribution for this session to help towards our operational costs. If you do book on and can't make it for any reason, please let us know in advance - we sometimes have people who don't turn up without letting us know, and because we are also neurodivergent, this causes some anxiety. Plus, if you can't make it, we can always open your space up to someone else who is waiting for a ticket - Yes, we're that popular ;) Thank you, and hope to see you there. Arts Comedy
No degree? No problem! Class is in session. Your nutty professors Sara Benincasa and Chad the Bird bring three geniuses to teach you stuff. Laugh until your giant human brain hurts at this comedy show slash infotainment extravaganza! The next session of Class! will feature comedians Kieron Harrell , Jamie Shriner , & Audrey Jonas on the topic of "JOY"! *** Why are Sara and Chad the Bird qualified to mildly educate through comedic infotainment? Sara wrote for Mystery Science Theater 3000. She’s published four books, including “Real Artists Have Day Jobs (And Other Awesome Things They Don’t Teach You in School).” A former talk radio host and producer, she’s been heard on BBC Radio, NPR, WTF with Marc Maron and other podcasts. TV credits include “Law & Order: SVU,” “Bill Nye Saves the World,” and more. She used to teach high school and holds an M.A. from Teachers College at Columbia University. Sara is the real deal! Chad the Bird is, as Rob Dean of Neonsplatter.com puts it, “A mix of Bill Hicks, Kermit The Frog, David Byrne, and a a shot of Malört." He, along with his co-host, will be bringing that energy to every single show - come experience it yourself! Or, as Jill Hopkins of Vocalo Chicago says: “Here’s the thing about Chad the Bird, is that he is very timely with his topics and is also weirdly wise for a bird puppet from Southern California” Two of Chicago's most hilarious entertainers, Sara and Chad the Bird are creating one-of-a-kind comedy *** Special accommodations can be made for larger parties. Please email thelincolnlodge@gmail.com with information about your party size and any specific requirements. REFUND POLICY: Please note that refunds are only available by request up to 24 hours before the event start date . Requests for refunds after that will be declined but a credit note will be issued for future shows (via email.) Thanks. Information Source: The Lincoln Lodge | eventbrite

Arts Film
Join WBEZ for an evening with two-time Emmy Award–winning actor and director Rob Reiner at Music Box Theatre on Wednesday, September 17 to celebrate the release of A Fine Line Between Stupid and Clever , the story of the making of the cult classic, This Is Spinal Tap . For the first time, director Rob Reiner and his costars and cocreators Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer detail the full behind-the-scenes story of This is Spinal Tap , the rock ‘n’ roll comedy classic, and its highly anticipated sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues , to be released in theaters on September 12. Since its release in 1984, This Is Spinal Tap has evolved from a beloved cult film into a cinematic landmark that has taken its place in the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry. It pioneered its entire genre, the mockumentary, and is one of the most quoted movies, from “These go to eleven” to “Hello, Cleveland!” Now, Reiner, joins the WBEZ stage to share how the fictitious band Spinal Tap came to be and how a low-budget indie film took on an unexpected, celebrated life of its own.
