Creating Possibilities BBMA Celebration 2025 | Edmonton Inn & Conference Center
The BBMA endowment fund supports Métis Albertans seeking to change their circumstances through education and skill development.
Creating Possibilities is an annual cultural event that honors the journeys and successes of BBMA participants. The value of the program goes beyond the dollars--it's an investment in our future, helping Métis students achieve their career goals and make a difference in their communities.
Awards are intended to assist recipients with essential costs such as tuition, fees, and sometimes textbooks and supplies. Each year approximately 250 awards are approved by the BBMA Panel.
Since 2001, these awards have generated more than $11 million for over 3500 Métis Albertans studying at various institutions. 400 guests are expected to attend this year including Elders, Founders, previous and present recipients, dignitaries and generous sponsors.

A walk and talk around the many and varied 21st century additions to Oxford’s historic centre, aiming to decide whether they should be saved or nuked.
There will be two groups led by local architects Adrian James (Adrian James Architects) and Nick Hardy (TSH Architects). Both are winners of multiple design awards, including the uber-prestigious OxProp Awards.
NOTE - UK Prop Social Members: limited to one place per company. Non-members must purchase a ticket for the Walk.
Timings
Meet at 13.45 outside Keble College on Parks Road and we will return by 16.00, allowing time for attendees to go back to their hotel and get ready for the evening awards.
EVENING AWARDS
We aim to develop an evening that achieves the holy grail of events - recognising the range of skills, company services, and projects completed in Oxfordshire in 2024/25 while providing guests time to network and have a memorable evening!

The awards will be hosted in the Great Hall at Keble College which has a capacity of 308 and is one of the largest and most impressive venues in the City of Oxford. Sitting on college-style tables, guests will experience an evening that will be unique and memorable. Please also note that this event is often sold out by July and has become a popular date for the property community.
Timings
Champagne reception from 18.15 and formal proceedings start at 19.15 with a charity element followed by a three-course dinner, the awards ceremony to finish around 22.30, and finally, networking in the Keble College Bar which will close at midnight.

Nature Tots - Sutton Courtenay, Thursday 11 September | Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre
Join our friendly Nature Tots staff and volunteers to explore the nature reserve and enjoy wildlife themed activities
suitable for children aged 18 months to 4 years
. We have a different theme each month, eg mini-beasts, dinosaurs or weather, and every session includes wildlife exploration, sensory play, stories and crafts. We start with child-led play and then come together for a story (it's a good idea to bring a snack and a drink for your child to eat at this point, we provide tea and coffee for grown ups) and usually some singing before we move on to a few extra activities, often including a craft. A lovely way to spend quality time in the great outdoors with your child.
Please note activities will take place outdoors - dress for the weather!
In winter we may head into the centre for the second half of the session to warm up with a story and crafts by the stove, but we always start outdoors.
You only need to book a place for your child, not for the accompanying adult. It's fine to bring baby siblings along, they do not need a ticket.
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.

Local Volunteer Event: Evening Bat Walk | Garnier Road Car Park
Join bat expert Nik Knight, County Recorder from Hampshire Bat Group, to learn more about the ecology of these fascinating animals. We will then have an evening stroll of about 2km in total alongside the Itchen navigation as the skies darken and bats begin to emerge from their roosts to hunt for insects. Bat calls are usually pitched at too high a frequency for humans to hear naturally. We should be able to detect the various calls using bat detectors kindly loaned to us for the evening by Hampshire Bat Group. Historically the public perception of bats has been largely negative but bats are an important part of our ecosystem. Bats are now in need of our help as they face many threats including from loss of habitat and the decline in the abundance of nocturnal insects. Nik will talk about current work in raising people's awareness of bats and the importance of their conservation.
PLEASE NOTE in the event of a very wet or very windy evening this event will be cancelled.

Who is the intended audience for PeaceWorks Live 2025?
This year’s conference is intended to serve both professional and lay helpers who are engaged in gospel-centered domestic abuse intervention ministry. Past attendees have included licensed and lay biblical counselors, social workers, pastors, elders, small group leaders, advocates, survivors, and family members of those experiencing or perpetrating abuse. Whether you are a veteran domestic abuse interventionist or you are in the beginning stages understanding this topic, we hope you will join us.
PeaceWorks Live is more than a training event. It's a gathering for people helpers who are committed to responding to domestic abuse with confidence in the sufficiency of Scripture, humble dependence on the Holy Spirit, safety and support for victims, and accountability and repentance opportunities for perpetrators. This is a time for these helpers to reflect on what it means to faithfully respond to these cases with Christ-exalting, gospel-centered solutions and to be reminded that they are not alone in this difficult work.
A Word to Perpetrators of Domestic Abuse:
If you are a perpetrator of domestic abuse in need of resources to aid in your repentance process, please understand PeaceWorks Live is not intended to serve you in this way. Instead, we ask that you please visit www.menofpeace.org to view the resources PeaceWorks has designed specifically for abusive men desiring change.
A Word to Victims of Domestic Abuse:

Educational Tracks
PeaceWorks Live 2025 will feature two educational tracks designed to equip helpers in two key aspects of domestic abuse intervention ministry. Each track will consist of seven training sessions.
Attendees will register for one of these two educational tracks. During the event, attendees must stay in the track for which they registered. As helpers, we are given the opportunity to hear and hold survivor stories. This is a great responsibility. How we receive and respond to these stories matters, not only for the survivors we serve, but for the families, churches, and communities they represent. May we be found faithful.

Following the screening, Issabella will share a selection of her poetry — including pieces developed during her time with Oxford Poetry Library — which lives in the world of Topos. Powerful artistry is almost never an outcome of certainty, rather, it is a matter of approaching curiosity and mystery with humility, sincerity and courage. In that spirit Thank You For Asking is an event that celebrates and showcases poetic curiosity through experimental short films, music and dialogue between artists.Thank You For Asking is the name of a new series of experimental short films by Optical Collusion -- a multimedia artists collective comprised of Brandon Wint, Noah Lefevre and Brian Raine --- which features the voices and ideas of some of the country's most profound writers, including Sanna Wani, Hari Alluri, Erin Soros, Simone Dalton and Shazia Hafiz Ramji. In addition to showcasing two episodes from the series, this event will also screen Brandon Wint's short film Moving For Love, and a wide-ranging conversation with renowned poet Titilope Sonuga, and a musical performance by Riwo.

Lean and Land: Uncovering the Bonehouse | Oxford Friends Meeting House
Join Kimberly Ann Johnson for a one-day exploration into the foundational wisdom of the bones.
Before mothering the bones, we must locate ourselves at the Bonehouse.
Bones are the last of “us” to decompose.
Bones are dense, and also porous.
Bones are echo locators- master orienters.
We can find ourselves in space through our bones.
Being deeply located is true grounding. This one-day workshop is a grounded initiation into the architecture of the female pelvis - a space where instinct, memory, and power live.
Drawing from the nervous system-informed roots of
Jaguar
work, and a precursor to
Mothering the Bones
, this day is a real time exploration of structural and relational support, and landing more fully in the felt sense of your body and on the body of the earth.
Through body and relationship, we will explore what it means to inhabit the pelvis beyond anatomy - as the dwelling of ancestry, memory and knowing - a place where boundaries live and can be built, where repair is possible, and vitality lives.
This is an opportunity to awaken instinct, track the presence of threat and safety, and cultivate greater capacity for pleasure.

Kimberly Ann Johnson
is a Sexological Bodyworker, Somatic Experiencing practitioner, Structural Integration practitioner, birth doula, yoga teacher and single mom. Kimberly helps women heal trauma, awaken their power and feel at home in their bodies to start living life on their own terms.
She is the author of the early mothering classic The Fourth Trimester (Shambhala, 2017) , translated in 8 languages and the feminist Call of the Wild: How We Heal Trauma, Awaken Our Own Power and Use It for Good (HarperWave, 2021), as well as the co-author of Reckoning with Stephen Jenkinson. She is the creator of the 6 hour audio training Reclaim the Feminine: Embodied Sexuality as Spiritual Practice (Sounds True, 2022).

Campfire Cooking - Sutton Courtenay, Friday 12 September | Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre
Come gather round the campfire in the late summer evening. We'll be making a simple vegetarian meal to eat together, and enjoying the evening peace of the nature reserve. This will be a relaxed and friendly session to unwind at the end of the week, and maybe learn a few new skills too. Some of the ingredients you'll use are grown right here on the nature reserve in our wildlife friendly vegetable garden. Open to over 18s only.
We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
