Heather Geoffrey is an interdisciplinary artist with a diverse portfolio spanning acrylic paintings, digital photography, analog collage, multimedia works, written word, and performance art. Her artistic journey began in Newport, Vermont, on the border between the United States and Canada. After completing a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Goddard College in 2009, Heather continued her studies with a focus on The Medicine of Art, Artist as Keeper of Ancestry and Lineage, Artist as Vessel, and Borderland Theory and Expression in Artistic Process. In 2012, she earned an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from the same institution.
Heather's captivating works have been featured in both group and solo exhibitions, and she has been commissioned for public murals as well as private collections. Rooted in a continuous dialogue with the source of her existence, her art serves as whispers from the ethereal realm, where the boundaries between worlds blur. As she has grown as an artist, Heather has embraced a more whimsical expression in her analog collage and multimedia works. This evolution has brought about a delightful exploration of new directions in her art since 2020.

Come learn how to paint mandala holiday bulbs. Artist and rock painter, Gretchen Holesovsky, will guide you in the beautiful possibilities in creating your own holiday memory. Join Gretchen at the Mill District Local Art Gallery on Sunday, December 15 for this two-hour workshop. Gretchen will guide you in planning your design, and share tips and the use of her tools to help you create your own beautifully painted ornament. All supplies provided. Due to the nature of the intricate Mandala design, this class is not a drop-in class. Ages 12+ with accompaniment. 15 spots available! - ------ Gretchen Holesovsky is a self-taught artist who has been painting and drawing since childhood. Her inspiration is drawn from nature, as she was always surrounded by the wonders of the outdoors growing up in Belchertown where she currently resides. Gretchen was introduced to watercolor in her twenties and fell in love with the medium. She loves the challenges and the beauty of applying color, creating texture and capturing natures’ gifts to us. Over the years, Gretchen has earned memberships into many elite watercolor societies and has earned many awards, and has been published in Splash 10. She has instructed both adults and children in watercolor techniques and creativity through workshops, small group and individual lessons. She enjoys painting with friends and sharing techniques, and loves to encourage others to enjoy and express their own creative process. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, Gretchen has refocused her artistic creativity outside of the watercolor society community in support of her hometown and neighboring communities. Now retired, Gretchen pursues new endeavors in multimedia, acrylic, rock painting and many other creative muses. “I paint because it connects me to the essence of nature and calms me, and takes me to the place where I’m disconnected from distraction. In addition to his touring schedule, Haimovitz mentors an award-winning studio of young cellists at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in Montreal and is the first-ever John Cage Fellow at The New School's Mannes School of Music in New York City. He has gone on to perform on the world’s most esteemed stages, with such orchestras and conductors as the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic with Zubin Mehta, the English Chamber Orchestra with Daniel Barenboim, the Boston Symphony Orchestra with Leonard Slatkin, and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal with Kent Nagano. His latest endeavor, THE PRIMAVERA PROJECT, encompasses 81 new commissions from a diverse intersection of North American communities and has been featured in the most recent 59th Venice Biennale Arte. Making his first recording at 17 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Haimovitz’s recording career encompasses more than 30 years of award-winning work on Deutsche Grammophon (Universal), Oxingale Records, and the PENTATONE Oxingale Series. His honors include the Trailblazer Award from the American Music Center, the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Grand Prix du Disque, and the Premio Internazionale “Accademia Musicale Chigiana.” He studied with Leonard Rose at The Juilliard School and graduated magna cum laude with highest honors from Harvard University. Haimovitz plays a Venetian cello, made in 1710 by Matteo Gofriller.
