Finding Place is an ambitious contemporary art exhibition that celebrates a cultural renaissance in Crawley, while also complementing the history of the Ancient Priors' buildings. This exhibition showcases the work of local, national, and international artists, inviting visitors to engage with workshops, talks, and a diverse range of exciting artworks. The goal is to create a meaningful dialogue on how we experience art and culture locally, as well as explore the concept of finding our place in the world.
Finding Place highlights the importance of art in connecting with ourselves, others, and the world around us. It serves as a bridge between the seen and unseen, the said and unsaid, and the felt and unfelt. Art, in all its forms, is not merely an accessory to life, but a fundamental aspect of what makes us human. It helps us to create, share, and understand the complex tapestry of human experience.
This exhibition follows the successful Manufactured Body Exhibition at the Ancient Priors in 2023, and features renowned artist and Curator Alison Dollery, along with Curator Sophie Nowakowska. The event is supported by Pop Up Culture Crawley, an organization known for its innovative approaches to cultural engagement.
Alison Dollery, a visual artist and curator, explores the body as a canvas and incorporates various artistic practices such as drawing, painting, performance art, and writing. Sophie Nowakowska, an independent curator, has a talent for creating engaging exhibitions in unconventional spaces. Her expertise and experience in evaluating socially engaged artworks and leading marketing strategies make her a valuable asset to the exhibition.
Finding Place - Contemporary Art Exhibition: Private View takes place on March 22, 2024, at 49 High Street, Crawley. Admission is free, offering a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a thought-provoking and captivating artistic experience.
