Unlock your ideas, boost your confidence and get more play into your life with this 8-week introduction to theatrical and comedy improvisation (improv) as experienced teacher Carla guides you through the fundamentals. We'll be playing games, creating stories together, and learning to make each other laugh, all in a safe, supportive environment. You don’t need any drama, acting, comedy or improv experience. Neither do you need to consider yourself funny either - in fact, the best improv comes from what we might consider very ordinary! ABOUT THE TEACHER Carla Keen is a professional theatre-maker and performer whose practice is based in play and spontaneity. She has an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Carla has studied - and continues to work with - with a wide-variety of international improv and comedy teachers. Carla believes that play and being in the moment are key to wellbeing, and her classes are joyful and highly interactive. Carla is a registered Equity member with Personal Liability Insurance, has an enhanced DBS, and has undergone extensive adult safe-guarding training. Carla also ensures that students work to an agreed code of conduct. ACCESSIBILITY St Philips Church is wheelchair accessible, and we are a disability and neurodivergency-friendly course. There is free parking available at the venue. (Note, if you are coming by car, Ross Street is across the bridge, which is now inaccessible by private car.
