Introduction to Stencil-Based Screen-Printing with Tushka Illustrates | Studio KIND. at The Corn Store
Mar 9, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Barnstaple
In this stencil-based screen-printing workshop, participants will explore the art of creating layered screen prints under the expert guidance of Tushka (Chrissy Mouncey). The session begins with designing and refining a minimum of two-layer stencils, which will then be hand-cut. Attendees will experiment with vibrant color blends, gradients, and monoprinting techniques, adding intricate details by painting directly onto the screen. The workshop welcomes all abilities, from beginners to those with screen-printing experience who wish to expand their skills and explore stencil techniques. While all materials are provided, participants are encouraged to bring images, sketchbooks, or anything that sparks their creativity—or simply arrive ready to be inspired. Tushka (Chrissy Mouncey) has been screen printing since she moved to Devon, inspired by the environment around her and producing prints that are inspired by light, colour, nature, beauty, weather, awe, movement and inspiration from the great outdoors. Keen to show the benefits of being submerged in the natural world for well being and mindset, she often includes figures in her prints engaging with the outdoors in activities such as sea swimming or surfing. Birds are also prominent in her prints as well as a focus on light. Having studied Fine Art and English, Tushka further developed her screen printing craft through courses at print workshops including the East London Printmakers, Double Elephant in Exeter and two years developing her skill and ideas at Spike Print Studio in Bristol. She exhibits locally and was also short listed for the 2024 Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. By booking an event at Studio KIND., you agree to our cancellation policy, which states that no refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than two weeks before the event date. Introduction to Etching with Annabel Hill | Studio KIND. at The Corn Store
Mar 23, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Barnstaple
Join experienced printmaker, Annabel Hill from Appledore Print Studios, on this fantastic introduction to etching inspired by seed heads, dried plants and organic forms to create beautiful botanical prints. Firstly we will ‘draw’ using plant stems or feathers dipped in ink, and mark-making using seed heads and stems. Drawing this way is very freeing for those unsure of drawing, or complete beginners or those who think they can’t draw. We will then use this image to create our etching plate from which we'll print. You will learn how to prepare your etching plate and using an intaglio printmaking process to create lines/areas that become incised using acid to 'hold' the ink. You will come away with a handful of lovely A4 etchings and ink drawings. All materials provided and open to all abilities, including beginners
