interVivos is bringing back A Federal Affair—a one-of-a-kind non-partisan unforum where Edmontonians gather for real conversations on the issues that matter most to them this federal election. In a casual setting, you'll connect with fellow engaged citizens and local experts who spark discussion—not debate.
No panels. No lectures. Instead, our speakers, will rotate through small groups to share insights and lead open conversations. You’ll engage directly with them and with your fellow attendees in an easygoing, respectful format.
Candidates and campaign staff are welcome—as attendees. This isn’t an event to promote parties or platforms.

Our first event is an exclusive evening at the award-nominated and past EHC Heritage Community Investment Program (HCIP) grant recipient,
Journey of the Horse
exhibit, created by Sue Mah and Andrea Maru. This remarkable transformation of the Mah Society building showcases the stories of Chinese immigrants who shaped Edmonton's history and Chinatown community.

Opportunity to meet community elders who contributed their stories

Journey of the Horse began as a modest wall-painting project and evolved into an immersive historical experience that has welcomed over 1,200 visitors in its first year. The exhibit preserves crucial stories of Chinese Canadian immigrants in Edmonton, including narratives that might otherwise be lost forever.

Quite often, the clash that results to extreme anger and animosity, and this can have a very disruptive effect on the entire team. As a leader, you are often called upon to defuse the situation and resolve differences in a collaborative manner, before the situation spirals out of control.
Our 1-day Conflict Management and Communication Skills provide you with effective tools to manage stressful situations in the workplace and become a highly successful person and leader.
Why is conflict management important?
When conflict is managed effectively, team members see conflict as a tool to exchange ideas while allowing each party to be equally heard. Students will create a linocut print up to 4"x6"; learning how to carve a block and using ink to print it by hand. At the end of class 2, you will go home with your block and paper prints.

: None! No experience is required.
PLEASE BRING
: CLASS 1: Please come with a design in mind. Students will have the option of either drawing their design directly on the block (freehand) or sending me a PDF beforehand so it can be printed and transferred onto the block before class. If you have a laser printer, you can also print a piece of paper with your sketch by photocopying it (in order to transfer it). Please make sure it is no larger than
4"x6"

Factory Simulation presented by The House of Sew
Participants will role play the workers and managers in a clothing factory in India by making mock clothing in a factory line. Participants will understand the economic incentives that create factories and the effects that factories have on the urban poor.
Participants will handle complex decisions that real workers and managers have to make, including whether to leave the job or to lower working conditions, respectively. You will understand how you contribute to poor working conditions, and evaluate possible solutions you can act on.

Building a YEG Circular Textiles Economy Discussion Panel
Fashion Revolution Canada Board member Claire Theaker-Brown leads a deep-dive into how Edmonton businesses are leading the movement towards a circular textile economy. Topics will include product and system innovation; policy and funding landscapes; and Edmonton's place in Canada's overall textile sustainability strategy. Attendees will be invited to ask questions and contribute their own perspectives to an honest, solutions-focused conversation.

Building on the success of our 2022 JUNO Award-winning album, we're creating even more chances for Edmontonians to sing and collaborate with us. Are you passionate about African choral music or love singing in general? Join us for a unique opportunity to be part of something truly special as we rehearse and test exciting new material ahead of our next album!
These monthly choir sessions are your chance to immerse yourself in the rich harmonies, rhythms, and melodies of African-inspired music and contribute directly to the creative process leading up to our summer 2025 album recordings.
Rehearsals will be held once a month on Sunday afternoons in music classrooms across the city. Whether you're an experienced singer or new to African choral music, come share your voice, energy, and passion for music in this supportive and collaborative environment.
We are a non-profit organization, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to participate. If finances or transportation are a barrier, please don't hesitate to reach out. Contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate.
