Matt Paxton is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario. In his early twenties, Paxton was already building up a sizable repertoire of folk rock and alt-country standards, playing shows across Canada, gaining a reputation as one of the countries promising up and coming singer-songwriters. Paxton has now released five albums, as well as a hatful of singles and EPs, sharing the stage with Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Justin Rutledge, Irish Mythen, Jeremie Albino & the Rosehall Band, and many more. Across his releases, Paxton wears his heart on his sleeve, delving into themes of love, loss, and self-reflection.
Most importantly, Matt loves Guelph and especially a chance to play a show at the Pit Stop, which is owned by the birthday boy himeself, Zukes... who also happens to be Matt's tour manager. For this show, he has nothing to manage and just gets to relax and hang as we celebrate his b-day, BBQ, and enjoy some live music.
See ya at the show!

Reclaiming my SHYNE | Guelph Civic Museum
Jun 1, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Guelph
This 2-hour workshop centers around the maxim that rest is an act of resistance, a radical form of self-care, and a powerful tool for Black, Indigenous, and women/femmes of colour to reclaim their lives from the constant pressure to perform and produce. Inspired by the work of Black feminist thinkers like Tricia Hersey, Audre Lorde, and bell hooks, we will explore the importance of rest, its connection to resistance, and practical ways to cultivate peace within our lives. This workshop will adopt an embodied approach, inviting participants to engage in this powerful discussion of rest and reclamation. Participants can expect to:
Engage in grounding, meditative exercises that encourage deep rest and self-reflection.
Explore the ways that hustle culture impacts their well-being and presents obstacles to rest.
Reflect on their own cultural practices that resist capitalism through rest, play, and community.
Develop practical tools to prioritize rest and ease in their daily lives.
This workshop is open to self-identified Black women/femmes, Indigenous women/femmes, and women/femmes of colour seeking to reclaim their sense of peace, balance, and self-care while actively resisting the destructive demands of capitalism and hustle culture. Participants are encouraged to bring their own "rest supports" to the workshop - this may include blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, slippers, or any other items that help them cultivate a sacred space during this rest practice.

Grow Through What you Go Through
a 4-week series in June
(June 4 – June 25)
Hardship and suffering is something that we all experience. We do not like the painful feelings associated with hardship, but Buddha encourages us to respond to difficulties in a different way; we can learn to respond with patience. This has so many benefits including deepening and strengthening our experience of inner peace and our ability to develop love and compassion.
In particular, through contemplation and meditation we can overcome the problem of anger, learning how to develop and maintain patience when faced with even the most difficult circumstances.
Each class presents a new topic with new contemplations and meditations for our training in overcoming anger and developing patience.
Topics include:
What is patience?
The benefits of patience
A spiritual response to hardship
Learning from our suffering

STOP THE BLEED COURSE @ Guelph General Hospital | 73 Delhi St
Jun 19, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Guelph
What is it?
Massive bleeding from any cause, but particularly from an active shooter or explosive event where a response is delayed can result in death. Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within five to 10 minutes.
Similar to how the general public learns and performs CPR, the public must learn proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use their hands, dressings, and tourniquets. Only certified healthcare providers can administer a Stop the Bleed course. Learning to STOP THE BLEED® is a lifesaving skill.
STOP THE BLEED® Public Course
-Limited class size to 20 participants per course
-Start time is 6:00pm to 7:30pm (doors open at 5:30pm)
-Course location is at Guelph General Hospital Auditorium
-Paid parking available onsite
-Course registration fee is $50.00 +tax per participant
-You will receive a certificate at the end of the course
Why is STOP THE BLEED® important?
Learning to STOP THE BLEED® is a lifesaving skill
.
The number 1 cause of preventable death after injury is bleeding.
With 3 quick actions, you can be trained and empowered to save a life.
Who can take the STOP THE BLEED® Course?
Anyone! STOP THE BLEED® courses are available to anyone interested in learning to control life-threatening bleeding.
Is there an age requirement for STOP THE BLEED®?
There's no minimum age requirement for the STOP THE BLEED® course, although we do recommend letting parents/guardians know about the graphic images and content included in the presentation. Instructors have taught the class to kids of all ages!
How We Teach
Our instructors from the Guelph General Hospiatl Trauma Program (Doctors & Nurses) will teach you live—in person, using training materials specially developed to teach bleeding control techniques. They will not only instruct you, they will be available to check your movements as you practice three different bleeding control actions. They will keep working with you until you demonstrate the correct skills to STOP THE BLEED® and save a life.
