Survival Camp (Mequon) | Unitarian Church North
Sports & Fitness
Survival Camp, a free event held at Unitarian Church North in Mequon, is designed to equip both kids and adults with essential skills for survival in natural disasters or dangerous situations. Taking place on September 23rd, from 9 am to 3 pm, this event promises to be an informative and engaging experience for attendees aged five and up.
Under the guidance of experienced camp leaders Todd Zumach, Brian Bunzel, and Jim Delillo, participants will learn crucial techniques such as shelter building, fire starting, and water sourcing. Through a scavenger hunt, campers will gather materials necessary for overnight survival in the woods. Additionally, they will construct their own emergency kits and acquire knowledge on how to remain safe when lost or facing imminent danger.
For families with younger campers, there will also be engaging crafts and games. While these younger attendees won't partake in shelter construction or fire building, they will gain insight into survival basics and situational awareness in both rural and urban settings, which are important skills for children to possess.
Lunch will be provided in the form of a bagged meal comprising a sandwich, fruit, a drink, and dessert. To add to the outdoor experience, campers can even enjoy a campfire grilled cheese and s'mores.
Future plans include expanding the camp to offer an offsite overnight experience, providing participants with the opportunity to apply the knowledge they gain. This exciting prospect highlights the dedication of the camp leaders to continually enhance the camp's offerings.
Don't miss this opportunity to equip yourself and your family with essential survival skills. Remember, admission is free, so mark your calendars for September 23rd and join us at Unitarian Church North, located at 13800 North Port Washington Road, Mequon, WI 53097.
