Latest Events in Asahikawa(July Updated)

This event will light up the first day of the Asahikawa Summer Festival with 4,000 fireworks. The event will be held on the banks of the Ishikari River and will be divided into three parts: the first part "Opening Fantasy", the second part "Luxury Show" and the third part "Grand Closing", which will make the audience linger. Large fireworks will bloom continuously, creating a dreamy atmosphere for the venue.

Held annually since 1960 in Asahikawa City, home to the famous Asahikawa Zoo, the Asahikawa Winter Festival is one of Hokkaido's biggest winter festivals. The main festival site is located on the banks of the Ishikari River, which is famous for its large snow sculptures. The 1987 snow sculpture was "Gulliver's Castle", which even made it into the Guinness World Records (until 1994, when its record was surpassed by the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress snow sculpture, which is a World Heritage Site). During the festival, a number of local events are held, such as the creation of a giant slide snow sculpture and other types of snow sculptures, as well as an ice sculpture world expo.
