Private View- Home Is Where The Art Is | Hypha HQ
Apr 10, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Euston
Home Is Where The Art Is isa Group Exhibition by Grafters Collective exploring working class perspectives on the home. Curated by Jennifer Jones, Gem Bryant, Beth Seeboo and Melissa Newbery Welcome. Home Is Where The Art Is brings together the works of sixteen members of Grafters Collective to explore working-class perspectives on the home. Themes of place, family and the mundane re-occur throughout the show. Essex born artist Thomas Holland highlights the intrinsic link between location and home as The Essex (2022) displays a coat of arms on floorboards imagined to be found in the back of a fictional manor house, church or community centre in the Essex countryside. Whilst Melissa Newbery Welcome’s Fieldnotes (2025) uses the technique of phototransfer to display images of moments in London which the artist deems ‘typical’ of their home city. Lily Donaldson’s Locket (2024) emphasises the importance of family in relation to the home as the painting shows a locket which holds images of the artist’s nuclear family, prior to their separation. In Holding Them Up (2024) Vernetta Chukwu displays footballs, originally belonging to her father, hung in a rope net and intertwined with photographs from integral moments of her life. The work speaks of the artist’s family’s connection to football and to each other, commenting on the intrinsic links between ourselves and those with which we share our homes. Whilst Antonia Del Ens’ installation Being Called Extraordinary Isn’t A Compliment (2025) compiles found objects typical of a working-class British household to explore the emotional significance of mundane possessions and ‘everyday’ moments in domestic space. Audiences are invited to reflect on what home means to them as well as the significance of domesticity, family and fleeting everyday moments which may often become overlooked in a busy working lifestyle. Home Is Where The Art Is will be on show from 11th April until 16th May 2025 at Hypha HQ in Euston. A series of events organised by Grafter and exhibiting artist Elleanna Chapman will run alongside the exhibition. This will include a Curator Tour, a Workshop, two Artists in Residence, a Public Participatory Artwork and a Panel Discussion. Rise, Habibi • 50 Artists x 30 Poets • Women Collaborate across Centuries• | Crypt Gallery
May 29, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED

Rise, Habibi at the Crypt Gallery NW1 2BA * May 28- June 14 (forget what you think you know about faith, feminism + the female experience long ago) In partnership with Saqi Books & Shubbak 2025, Radical Love’s ‘Rise, Habibi’ showcases the groundbreaking poems of 30 Arab & Muslim women writing over 1,000 years ago, taken from Saqi's cult collection 'Classical Poems by Arab Women' translated by Abdullah al-Udhari. We posted them (in original Arabic and English translation) to 50 emerging artists across the world who reimagined these ancient words in photography, paint, sculpture and textile for a breathtaking and deeply personal exhibition unlike any other. 'better to live in hardship then end up as a whipping girl' Zabba 9C Abbasid Dynasty Over a thousand years old but timeless, short & sweet, in just a few lines 30 women bare their hearts and souls as mothers dote on babies, girls crush on forbidden boys (and girls), celebrated scholars rebel against patriarchy and the daughters of slaves revolt against greed, all using poetry as their form of expression. Lithomancy Readings | Hypha HQ
Jun 6, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Euston
Visitors are invited to throw gemstones with specially assigned characteristics onto a wooden board divided into geologically themed sections. The artist, Susan Eyre, will offer personal interpretations based on the position of the cast stones and their given qualities by drawing from the esoteric ritual of lithomancy which seeks to divine the future from the reading of stones. This playful and engaging experience proposes insights into the power and allure of stones emanating from the symbolic meanings attributed to them and exposes the entangled relations between the human and the geologic found in our language and desire to align the human condition with the lithic. These Friday afternoon drop-in sessions are part of a programme of events associated with the exhibition The Geological Unconscious at Hypha HQ. Open: 23rd May – 28th June 2025 Wed, Sat 12 – 6pm. The Geological Unconscious:
Responding to Jason Groves’ inquiry into the mineral imaginary in his eponymous book, as well as the ‘Writing of Stones’ as proposed by writer and mineral collector Roger Caillois, the exhibition exposes the complex entanglements between the organic and the inorganic; the human and the lithic. The Geological Unconscious is viewed through disruptive Surrealist strategies, engagements with the aesthetics of geo-materiality and material processes that attend to the growth and transformation of matter. These artistic ‘excavations’ highlight the toll of extractive industries on our planet, whilst inspiring reverence for the geological lineages of deep, cosmic time. Theories of Animism and Panpsychism are also brought to bear on ways of attributing agency to inorganic realms. Private View : Conviction Fair | Hypha HQ
Jul 3, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Euston
Conviction Fair Curated by Zhen Feng Ang Opening from 4 July - 9 Aug 2025, Thu- Sun, 12 - 6 pm PV: 3 July (Thu) , 6 - 9 pm Hypha HQ In an era where truth is fragmented, Conviction Fair delves into the labyrinth of contemporary belief systems, examining how one constructs reality amid rampant media distrust and contradictory information streams. Through mixed-media works by seven artists, the exhibition unpacks the coping mechanisms to navigate conflicting systems of persuasion and uncertainty. Borrowing from the imagery of a marketplace, Conviction Fair imagines beliefs, ideals, and personal truths as commodities to be consumed, exchanged, or discarded in a concept-driven economy. Today's information landscape resembles a crowded fair, where every vendor shouts to be heard. Just as every London restaurant claims 'authentic' cuisine and every booth at the fair insists on having the 'best' goods, information and idea sources compete for our conviction. Rather than offering clarity, this environment overwhelms with persuasive messages: authenticity becomes branding, and conviction becomes a limited resource under constant demand. The works address three main aspects: the symbolisms that shape perspective; environmental cues that guide collective compliance; and the ongoing adaptation required in a rapidly shifting era. Here, conviction is less about fixed certainty and more about the performance of making sense of the world. Set against the backdrop of a post-truth landscape, where emotions and pre-existing beliefs often precede factual accuracy, the exhibition highlights the cultural and political conditions that influence how information is crafted, contested, and consumed into a personal truth, with Donald Trump’s return and AI-generated deepfake content serving as one of many symptoms of this shifting landscape. Drawing on theorist Chantal Mouffe’s conception of public space as inherently conflictual, the exhibition reflects on how ideological struggle shapes not only political discourse but also personal meaning-making. In the absence of clarity, and under the pressure to act, viewers are left to reckon with the belief-action gap , the gap between what one claims to value and what one does. Featuring new works by Ka Chun Chung, Amelia Akiko Frank, Jonah Hoffman, Natalya Marconini Falconer, Poppy O’Brien, Roman Sheppard Dawson, and Alexander Tarasenko, the exhibition positions the artists as exhibitors in a fairground. Visitors are invited to test and toy with the increasingly fragmented and unstable systems of belief.
