Fashion Design
Cultural Experiences
Let’s be clear—we’re not here for politics, we’re here for the runway. The phrase might raise eyebrows, and that’s the point. We’ve flipped it, reclaimed it, and infused it with the voice of a new generation ready to challenge everything—including what fashion has become. This isn’t about anyone else’s campaign. This is about ours. Fashion is experiencing a rebirth. Once rooted in artistry, culture, and craft, the industry has been diluted by mass production, fast fashion, and a loss of creative identity. “Make Fashion Great Again” is a rallying cry led by a new generation of designers and creatives from St. Louis, Missouri—visionaries who are reclaiming fashion as a tool for self-expression, storytelling, and change. Through Stevens - The Institute of Business & Arts partnership with North Technical High School and Siba alumni, this showcase is more than just a runway—it’s a cultural movement. One that uplifts young voices and highlights fashion’s enduring role as a medium for identity, creativity, and activism. While this show reflects the students’ personal call to action, we also recognize and honor the many designers, brands, and institutions who have long been doing the work to make St. Louis fashion great. This event is an addition to that incredible foundation—built on the groundwork, passion, and legacy that others have laid. It’s a continuation of the movement, infused with new energy, bold ideas, and a fearless generation ready to take the baton and carry fashion forward. - Location: Ely Walker Building – 1518 Washington Ave, St. Louis, MO Date: Friday, May 24th, 2025 Time: Doors open at 5:00PM | Show begins at 7:00PM Dress Code: Come fashion-forward and photo-ready. - Guests will enjoy: A curated runway experience featuring original designs from emerging student designers Live music and pre-show ambiance as you mix and mingle Step & repeat photo opportunities to capture your look A cash bar with signature mocktails (VIP tickets include two drink tickets) A post-show networking hour where you can connect with designers, stylists, creatives, and local industry professionals Exclusive VIP goody bags for our front-row supporters Curated activations before and after the runway show The premiere of 2 documentaries created & filmed by Drew Brown "The Film Lord" Fashion-forward energy from start to finish Whether you're here to support, scout, or soak up the style, Make Fashion Great Again is your chance to experience the future of fashion in St. Louis—up close and unapologetically bold. Join us for an evening with New York Times bestselling author, Rachel Gillig, to celebrate her newest novel, The Knight and the Moth ! This is a ticketed event! Each ticket includes a hardcover copy of The Knight and the Moth! A signing line will follow the discussion where individuals can get up to three titles signed. One of those three titles can be selected for personalization. Individuals are welcome to bring books from home. Additional books will be available for sale on-site. Doors open at 4:00 PM. About the Book From NYT bestselling author Rachel Gillig comes the next big romantasy sensation, a gothic, mist-cloaked tale of a young prophetess forced on an impossible quest with the one knight whose future is beyond her sight. Perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout and Leigh Bardugo. Sybil Delling has spent nine years dreaming of having no dreams at all. Like the other foundling girls who traded a decade of service for a home in the great cathedral, Sybil is a Diviner. In her dreams she receives visions from six unearthly figures known as Omens. From them, she can predict terrible things before they occur, and lords and common folk alike travel across the kingdom of Traum’s windswept moors to learn their futures by her dreams. Just as she and her sister Diviners near the end of their service, a mysterious knight arrives at the cathedral. Rude, heretical, and devilishly handsome, the knight Rodrick has no respect for Sybil's visions. But when Sybil's fellow Diviners begin to vanish one by one, she has no choice but to seek his help in finding them. For the world outside the cathedral’s cloister is wrought with peril. Only the gods have the answers she is seeking, and as much as she'd rather avoid Rodrick's dark eyes and sharp tongue, only a heretic can defeat a god. About the Author Rachel Gillig was born and raised on the California coast. She is a writer and a teacher, with a B.A. in Literary Theory and Criticism from UC Davis. If she is not ensconced in blankets dreaming up her next novel, Rachel is in her garden or walking with her husband, son, and their poodle, Wally. Information Source: The Novel Neighbor | eventbrite

Plight of the Bumble Bee Plight of the Bumble Bee is a compelling short film that takes you deep into the world of bees and their profound connection to Irish religion, folklore, and biodiversity. This thought-provoking documentary explores the vital role bees play in our ecosystems, the challenges they face, and how we can help ensure their survival. With moments of sadness, humour and ultimately hope, the film beautifully weaves a narrative that highlights the urgent need to protect biodiversity, both in Ireland and across the globe. It debunks common myths about bees and biodiversity, offering fresh insights and inspiring viewers to take action. The documentary features heartfelt interviews, including with the likes of Kilkenny native, 81-year-old Peter Walsh , who has been counting bees in the same spot in Co. Kilkenny since 1959, and Skerries locals Charlie and Marion Heasman, who have created a remarkable 5km-long biodiversity corridor in Co. Dublin. With a unique soundtrack of traditional Irish music composed by Brenda Castles and performed live with the film by Brenda on concertina, Alan Murray on guitar, and Eimear Arkins on fiddle, Plight of the Bumble Bee is a tribute to nature, community, and resilience. Prepare to be inspired. Prepare to act. This is a story not just about bees—it’s about us all. This will be an entertaining and informative afternoon for all those interested in nature and the environment around us. This event is graciously supported by The Regional Arts Commission of St Louis and ARPA for the Arts. Information Source: eventbrite
