Arts Dance
Bellydance is a great dance form to learn to express yourself, feel your body and learn how to connect to the music and improvise. During these series we will only be covering fun, basic, upbeat and romantic combinations. All levels are welcome! The workshops are led by Juliana, a Tri-Cities based dance instructor since 2016. On the First Workshop Veil and Drum Solo , we will be covering simple steps and most popular movements for anyone to continue practicing at home after the workshop. Veil has its ability to frame our dance as a dramatic prop for our entrance while we can use it in a more meditative way to frame the soul of our dance and hypnotize the audience with its flow. On the Second Workshop Baladi and Drum Solo , we will be covering more hip work, travelling steps, angulations, hip circles and locks, maya move, number 8, and body improvization to the earth music of Baladi. Baladi style is known as a folkloric style, it is the heart of the Bellydance fundamentals, it is very improvisational and is always expressed differently by each and every woman. With the basics you will be given, you will be able to start building you journey into a very emotional and expressive part of Bellydance. During the second hour of each workshop, we will be training our abs and hips with a heat of the Drum Solo technique. This is a high energy part where we will be more focusing on strength, stamina, durability, breathing, power in the dance, expression of the beat by our hips. Veils & Hip scarfs will be provided by the instructor for participants to use during the workshops. Limited number of Hip Scarfs will be available for sale for the same rate as on Amazon.ca All of the participants will be signing a waiver prior to the workshop. All participants will be offered an ongoing LIVE Zoom group support for a nominal monthly fee on a weekly basis. Despacho Offering of Gratitude and Beauty Come join us for a special event where we gather to express our gratitude and create a beautiful Despacho Offering, aligned with the lunar energies. This Full Moon despacho is focused harvesting the learnings from the previous lunar cycle and releasing anything that no longer serves us, and open the way for even more love, goodness, and abundance to come our way by getting clear about our intentions. What is a Despacho? A Despacho (from the Spanish, meaning to dispatch ) is a beautiful ceremony of making a mandala-like offering from natural materials. Coming together in community and ritually assembling flowers, seeds and other objects is an Andean practice of gratitude and sacred reciprocity (ayni) that helps align us to the cycles of the earth, connect with our own hearts, and strengthen our connections to all of creation. Making these offerings can help us restore love, balance, and harmony in our own lives, and in our relationship with Mother Earth and all the beings of nature. After the creation of the despacho, it is bundled up and ritually released into a sacred fire. These teachings originate from our apprenticeship with the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition through The Heart of the Healer Shamanic Mystery School and Visionary Hearts. Ayni (Sacred Reciprocity) and Registration This ceremony is an offering of sacred reciprocity to the beautiful land and ocean of the Sunshine Coast. This is a gift to the community. Donations to cover supply costs are gratefully accepted but not required. Please email emissariesofthegoldenage@gmail.com to confirm your attendance. Please let us know that you're coming so that we can share exact meeting location and any changes to the plan in case of inclement weather! What to bring If so inspired, please bring flowers, feathers, dried plants, or any other natural objects that are fully biodegradable and safe to be released into the ocean. If you want to bring snacks to share, we do welcome that. We will provide all other materials. After completing the offering ceremony, we will release it to the great Pacific Ocean. Location This ceremony will take place at a beach location in Roberts Creek. Please sign up in advance so we can confirm exact location and other details.
