A NEW DATE FOR THE HIKE THAT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO DANGEROUS WEATHER! HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT THIS TIME.
We love this hike and offer it twice a year, spring/summer and winter/fall. This summer time we will leave at 3:00 pm and return as the sun is setting. Weather permitting, we will hike along the river on the Ken Lockwood Gorge Trail to Califon and return on the trail above the gorge. If you start this hike and decide to turn around before the finish, you are on your own. Please read this information carefully to be prepared.
Heavy rain will cancel the event, so please watch your email the morning of the hike.
Meet Time:
3:00 pm (please arrive 2:45 pm) in the parking lot.
Finish
: ETA 7:30 - 8pm.
Location:
Meet in the parking lot at the trail head off Main St. in HIGH BRIDGE, NJ.(See the map above with location). Check your GPS directions ahead of time.
Free Parking:
No public transportation to this location. Perhaps carpool if needed.
Headlamps
or flashlight recommended for return section of the trail, as the sun will be going down.
Difficulty:
Moderate, mostly flat, but rocky by the river. Hiking poles and boots are recommended.
Bathrooms
: In the park in Califon 1/2 way and at the start as well.
What to bring along:
Water and food (your choice) for personal picnic dinner. Pack your food in secure containers, please.

is a network of over 1,300 miles of trails connecting New York City, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in tribute to the heroes who perished on September 11, 2001, and the heroes who, in response, answered the call for their country.
The FreeWalkers are again offering the
Cross-Jersey Walking Challenge
, with a goal of walking the 100 miles of the East Coast Greenway across the entire state at any time during the year. This walk is part of the ECG trail from Trenton to New York City.
