The 2025 Flash Foxy Climbing Festival will take place in Bishop, California, from March 14 to March 16. This exciting event will be held at various locations around town, offering climbers of all levels the opportunity to participate in workshops, clinics, and competitions. The festival aims to celebrate and promote women in climbing, providing a supportive and empowering environment for all attendees. Join climbers from around the country for a weekend of skill-building, community-building, and fun in the beautiful setting of Bishop.

Our workshops are in the Stars Community Shop, in Bishop's Castle, which is a beautiful light and spacious space in which to work! Enjoy a morning working small scale, creating a collage from materials you have brought from home as well as the materials provided, cards, stamps, magazine and newspaper images and cuttings, dried flowers and leaves, grasses, seedpods, shells, seaglass, bottle tops, theatre tickets, travel cards.... you name it we can find a way to attach it with stitching and embroidery (and perhaps a dab of glue to make sure it stays safely on! We will use calico as the base but I will also provide some felt in various colours if you want to add some firmer textures and to back the finished piece, and you could bring some fabric remnants etc as well as lace, ribbion , and other trimmings to add to it! If you want to be a bit more ambitious, stay the whole day and work on a on a bigger piece. This workshop really benefits from you doing a little preparation and collecting materials beforehand. So get collecting! You could even base around an event (a trip, Christmas, a birthday, or perhaps make something to celebrate an anniversary!) Basic sewing and materials will be provided which will be fine for creating the basis of your work, but please bring any sewing materials you'd like to use too- you may have a special colour embroidery thread or yarn you might want to use! If you want to stay all day, please buy the all day ticket and don't forget to bring packed lunch. Hot drinks and cake included in the price. And if you decide you want to stay all day, one you get stuck in to your project (I can confirm it's very addictive!) please bring your payment card or cash to pay extra. There is a bank and cash machine in BC if you need to use the facility! This workshops is suitable for everyone including those who have never done painting or embroidery, and is also suitable for young people, but age 10 and above and under 14s must be accompanied by a participating and supervising adult. Catherine is a passionate educator in the arts (she is a musician as well as artist) and is convinced we all have creativity within us. She has been stitching, painting, making and generally making creative messes since she was a toddler. Her mother still has little pieces of embroidery and drawings she made as a child!
