As the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra (NBYO) celebrates its 60th Anniversary, we invite you to join us in a momentous event—our 60th Anniversary Gala Dinner on January 5, 2025, at the Delta Hotels Saint John. This event will feature an ensemble of our top NBYO musicians, showcasing the incredible talent that your support has helped nurture over the years. Join our hosts for an evening of fun, joy and of course... music! This year’s theme, Orchestrating a Legacy of Excellence reflects our journey over the past six decades, as we’ve grown into Canada’s largest youth music program. This milestone event is not just a celebration of our past achievements but a pivotal opportunity to secure the future of our program. As part of the evening, we will also recognizea local champion with a community service award celebrating their dedicated support of the NBYO and Sistema NB. Each ticket purchased will receive one complimentary ticket to the NBYO concert featuring Mahler's 1st Symphony on February 9th at 7pm at the Imperial Theatre and a charitable tax receipt of $75. Shakespeare is the story of Shakespeare as it has never been told before: in a single play that covers his entire life, from childhood to death. Remarkably (but truly), there has never been a biographical play, or biodrama, that tells the whole story of the greatest playwright who ever lived. Until now… Shakespeare captured the essential truth about humanity, so it is perhaps unsurprising that his own life should resemble one of his plays, or more accurately a series of plays: Comedy, in which he and his fellow players steal a theatre; History, in which they become involved, unwittingly or otherwise, in a plot to overthrow the Queen, Elizabeth I; and, finally, Tragedy, in which he faces a long-overdue reckoning with his past. Shakespeare is a lifetime’s labour of love by playwright Martin Keady; the culmination of more than 30 years of study and research. It has already been performed at The Rose Theatre in London, on the remains of an Elizabethan theatre in which Shakespeare himself performed, and the aim in 2025 is that it will receive both its first full stage production and an audio/podcast recording, ideally in The Rose or another Elizabethan theatre. Freshfest 2025 has a series of play readings and that is completely in keeping with Shakespeare’s world, which was more verbal and auditory than ours; Elizabethans went to hear a play, not see it. Claire and Zara once discussed starting a family together. Suddenly forced to confront the reality of what a family means to them, they soon discover the lengths, however violent, they'll go to in order to get one.
