SheJumps x AMC | Uphill Skiing & Riding at Bolton Valley | VT | Bolton Valley Resort

Mar 15, 2025 (UTC-5)ENDED
Valley
Snow Sports
Sports & Fitness
Join us for a weekend of uphill skiing & riding at Bolton Valley! The weekend will include frontcountry and backcountry portions and will be perfect for intermediate (Saturday) or expert (Sunday) skiers and riders with prior experience with uphill travel. Participants have the option to register for one or both days. Important details regarding registration can be found below. Weekend ScheduleOn Saturday, SheJumps will host a day of front-country, with on-piste uphill laps on designated uphill trails, descending on the resort's alpine trails. You must be able to ski/ride blue trails. Participants can join for one lap or as many as they choose. If you're newer to uphill travel or out of practice, this will be a great warm-up/fitness day! Everyone can feel free to take a lunch break on their own, and we'll end the day with an après gathering including a raffle around 3 pm. We can have up to 30 participants on Saturday. Sunday will provide a typical New England-style adventure, with AMC leading a group into Bolton Valley's extensive backcountry terrain. With over 12,000 acres of untouched wilderness adjacent to the resort's alpine trails, the group will have many options to choose from - from tree glades to narrow chutes and moderate cliff zones - and will navigate together based on group preferences. The group size will be more limited on Sunday. Participants will be required to have expert backcountry experience in order to join, along with the ability to ski ungroomed black diamond terrain and glades. Our group will travel at a moderate pace (climbing approximately 1,000 feet per hour). Be prepared for vigorous aerobic exercise, likely involving 5+ miles and 2,000+ vertical feet. You should be prepared to spend the day in the backcountry and bring appropriate food, water, layers, personal first aid, and personal gear repair kits. Though this event will not focus on teaching skills, it should help participants practice uphill travel and navigate into the backcountry with confidence, all while making safe group decisions, exploring, and finding and riding as much vertical as possible. Who can attend: We welcome all women and girls—transgender and cisgender, as well as non-binary people to attend this event. Participants should be familiar with all equipment needed for uphill skiing or riding. This event series isn't intended for people who haven't skied before, or those that don't have experience with uphill touring. REGISTRATION DETAILS:Participants can register for one or both days depending on availability. The registration link for this post is only for the SheJumps Saturday event. To register for Sunday’s event you will register directly with the AMC via this link. Please note: An uphill day ticket is required each day. Folk
Black Bear Lodge presents four artists, crossing from folk-country to indie to jazz and back to folk-pop, to share their stories & songs in celebration of International Women's Day. $3 from every ticket sale will be donated to Sisters Inside, an organisation advocating for the collective human rights of women and girls in prison, and their families, and provides services to address their individual needs. Read more: https://sistersinside.com.au/ About the artists: Molly Read Describing herself as a modern-era post-pre-Raphaelite, Molly Read is an Australian/British songstress curating soft and wistful indie-lounge from her greenhouse in Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia. Driven by the intricacies of love and interpersonal relationships, Read shapes her music with lush soundscapes adorned with profound lyricism and enchantingly delicate vocals. Her musical stylings take cues from the sounds of her upbringing, resulting in an innovative blend of jazz, bossa nova, soul, and indie. With her 2024 debut release, 'Greenhouse’, Molly Read drew comparisons to the chanteuse traditions of artists like Clairo, Hana Stretton, and Astrud Gilberto. tuesday. tuesday. is a Meanjin-based indie pop-rock trio weaving existential anxieties into shimmering melodies. Led by Anna Sosnowski (vocals, guitar, songwriting), with Anna Groves (bass, backing vocals) and Pete (drums, production), the band formed through open mic nights and jazz studies. Blending pop, jazz, folk, and indie rock, they deliver hard-hitting truths wrapped in disco lights and a smile. Their name captures the calm of a mid-week pause—a reflective break from life's rush. Blue Stockings Blue Stockings is a collaborative project formed in 2020 between vocalist Alison Paris and classical guitarist Chloe Hasson. What began as an outlet to explore classical music without the confines of the concert hall, soon developed its own unique sound at the intersection of folk music, classical-contemporary, and experimental/ambient music. With a focus on outward movement in their creativity, the core foundations of Blue Stockings are built upon collaboration projects with featured artists. Connecting community through accessibility, live performances focus on building a comfortable and interactive atmosphere, with each performance bringing new ideas and diverse sounds. Julia Bates Singer-songwriter Julia Bates began performing around campfires and country shows while growing up in regional New South Wales. Since moving to Brisbane in her late teens, she has performed as a soloist and sung backing vocals for Clare Cowley and several other local artists. Julia delivers her introspective and referential lyrics in a timbre that conveys both strength and fragility. Her songwriting and vocals draw comparisons to Laura Marling, Linda Ronstadt and Joni Mitchell. Julia's song writing poeticises the complexity of human emotion, combining vivid imagery and sincere storytelling to create an evocative listening experience.
