Six years ago I went to a self-help group. At the end they said to Keep Coming Back. Since then I have killed two fiddle-leaf figs and three relationships, yet I persist. Nedd Brockmann ran across Australia and told us to keep showing up. But Nedd Brockmann has not been dumped by a man who was the dungeon-master of two different D&D games. What things are worth coming back for? Can you really walk away from the search for love? Is a monstera a more appropriate house plant for my situation? All this and more will be covered in an hour of new stand-up comedy I have lovingly prepared for you, like a leaf of kale massaged with olive oil. Come and eat the salad of laughs. Brisbane improv comedy juggernaut Poop Joggers are hitting the stage! Between 2017-2018 the quiet Brisbane suburb of Greenslopes was preyed upon by a corporate executive (CE) and his foul behaviour. On at least 30 different occasions this CE would go for a jog in the wee hours of the morning and defecate on a residential apartment block. After a successful sting operation by the residents, the CE was caught and given the nickname Poo Jogger. From this story, four of the best improv comedians Taylor Edwards, Chris Milne, Coen Gilbert and Chris Martin (all from Greenslopes) teamed up and the improv comedy juggernaut that is the Poop Joggers was born. They have been tearing up comedy stages around Brisbane for 2 years now PLUS they sold out their show at the 2023 Brisbane Improv Festival. Their shows are always wild and so so funny! Welcome to Singing Workshop - INTRO: Style & Improvisation! Join us on Sunday 13th Aprilat 4pm at Coloursound Studios for an exploration on how to sing with a soulful style, and start improvising! We'll be exploring the elements of how to bring soulful sounds to your singing and vocal expression - from tone, to vocal decoration, as well as approaches to improvising or ad-libbing . If you've wanted to learn how to improvise or ad-lib over songs in a soulful way but are unsure of how to approach it - we'll be using various exercises to get into the flow of creative improv, and not just parroting singers you've heard before. It's time for some musical self-expression! This is a great step into the world of improvising for all singers and it is open to everyone including beginners - whether you're new to improvising this will help guide your first steps into improv, or if you're a seasoned singer it will give you a creative new approach and oppotrunity to examine your style and improvisation. Spaces are limited to 15 people so we can really take our time and make sure everyone gets a good amount of individual attention. You will be singing in front of each other during the workshop, but it will be a supportive and encouraging environment! Information Source: The Phoenix Choir | eventbrite

Our second workshop is about composition, shot types and camera movements. Now that we've learnt how to use your camera in manual mode, let's take the next step and think about how to compose your shots. Ever heard about the rule of thirds or wondered how to make your portraits or landscapes more appealing? This workshop is for you. Composition is a pillar of photography and video-making, and we'll guide you through a few basics that allow you to experiment. For more advanced photographers we will explore how to break the rule of the thirds, frames within frames, composing with light etc. If you've not attended our previous workshops, are still shooting in automatic mode and simply want to learn about framing you are also welcome! Our workshops are open to all-level photographers and videographers, whether complete beginners or more advanced. Bring your camera, and if you don't have one, we have a few spares for you to practice on. If there's anything specific you'd like to learn, if you have a project, an idea, or a question, let us know! The venue is wheelchair accessible, but the bathrooms aren't. If you have any access requirements please let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you. Information Source: Queer Film Night | eventbrite
