FEAR - 40 Years of More Beer with Dead Bob & The Vicious Cycles | Rickshaw Theatre
Mar 30, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Hastings
The Rickshaw presents FEAR - 40 Years of More Beerwith guests, Dead Bob and The Vicious CyclesMarch 30th, 2025The Rickshaw Theatre19+Doors: 7:00pmFEARLegends. Formed in 1978 in Los Angeles, they shaped not only the sound Punk Rock, but defined the attitude and style which countless others mimic to this day, FEAR was the first punk rock band to grace national television in North America via Saturday Night Live on Halloween 1981, courtesy of John Belushi, leaving the studio set in shambles. FEAR remain on the permanently banned list from Saturday Night Live to this very day, and are ranked the number one musical performance in the show’s robust history by Rolling Stone Magazine. Their first album has sold over 500,000 copies and is considered to be one of he top ten punk rock albums of ALL TIME. FEAR’s frontman Lee Ving is also an accomplished actor with appearances in several large budget Hollywood film’s such as “Flashdance”, “Clue”, “Streets Of Fire”, and over 30 other films and television programs. Former members of FEAR have gone on to play with “Red Hot Chili Peppers”, “Frank Zappa”, “The Breeders”, and Frank Black & The Catholics”. Dead BobDead Bob is the solo incarnation of John Wright, drummer from long time and apparently legendary but now retired Punk rock band No Means No. Life Like, a NMN cover actually, is the first album John has released on his own. Though primarily written and performed by John he can’t take all the credit having engaged the help of several friends to get this thing done. Recorded and Produced by John in the wilds of British Columbia, this album's material spans several decades and there is a lot more in the archives. As might be expected the songs roll out cohesively but defy the cookie cutters and pigeon holes hence Genre is a tough one to convey but one thing that is not unclear is it is not to be listened to quietly! The Vicious CyclesLong time Vancouver, Canada favorites The Vicious Cycles play hook-heavy singalong moto-anthems. They are punk rockers born in the garage, delivering songs straight from a rock-n-roll heart! There is chaos. Sometimes there is fire. Things get burnt. Everyone has a good time. NIGHT ONE LINE UP:The DreadnoughtsThe Dreadnoughts began to play folk-punk in 2007 with a single goal: to make enough money at shows to cover the cost of shots of Fireball Whiskey at Vancouver’s notoriously seedy Ivanhoe Hotel. Ten years on and counting, they can boast of four studio albums, two EPs, and hundreds of unforgettable live shows spanning the globe. They’ve blended punk rock and a bunch of European folk traditions with a power and range that few other groups can match. And it’s been a blast. thedreadnoughts.com The Real McKenziesFounded in 1992 by the larger than life, Scottish punk-rock poet laureate, Mr Paul McKenzie, this merry band of miscreants has spent a quarter century circumnavigating the globe to bring the McKenzies gospel to an ever-expanding throng of rebels, scallywags and ne’er do wells. There’s not many bands that can boast of an over 30-year career as staggeringly adventurous, wildly tempestuous and utterly death-defying as The Real McKenzies. realmckenzies.com Distorted TimesDistorted Times is a DIY punk band from Portland Oregon consisting of members Kevin Hudson, Jay Crash, Ian Jackson, and Brit Kaplan. Members are veterans of such bands as Ground Score (PDX) PROBLEMS, Dirty Kid Discount, My Goldfish Ned, and more. distortedtimes.com RSVP on FacebookRefund PolicyNo refunds, unless event is cancelled.
