If you disagree or are offended by what you hear, you are free to express this by not laughing, by leaving, or by respectfully raising your objections with the act after the show or via social media. You may not interrupt an on-going performance. · Audience members who repeatedly break these rules will be asked to leave.

Image: Jenny Downing A sea of troubles is perhaps all too familiar to most. In this very practical poetry workshop, we will create three very different poems, which will be written to help us wave rather than sink. This workshop will be suitable for those who write poetry on a regular basis, but also those who have no previous experience of writing creatively. All you need to bring to the workshop is a notebook and pen, and a willingness to participate in something different. Hopefully, you will leave with the interesting early forms of these three poems, and you will also take away some of the tools which will help you to edit and polish them. We will also share some suggestions about where you may decide to set your poems adrift at a later stage. Roll your sleeves up. Those waves will be amazing! Bookings will close on Friday 7th March at noon. Please book early to avoid disappointment. This event will be held in the Conference Room of Dundee Central Library in the Wellgate, Dundee, on Tuesday 11th March from 2-4pm. Beth McDonough studied Silversmithing at GSA, and taught Art for many years in various settings. She completed an M.Litt in Writing Practice and Study at Dundee University and was Writer in Residence at DCA 2014-16. Her poetry is in Gutter, The Interpreter’s House, Magma and elsewhere and is widely anthologised; she reviews in DURA regularly. Handfast (with Ruth Aylett, May 2016) charts family experiences – Aylett’s of dementia and McDonough’s of autism. Her solo pamphlet Lamping for Pickled Fish is published by 4Word, and a book of writings about swimming outdoors is scheduled to appear later in 2023.She was the 2022 Makar of the Federation of Writers (Scotland).
