Featured Events in Burlington in April, 2025 (March Updated)

FREE Family Drop-In Program Monday, April 21st, 2025 1-4pm Inspired by Thomas Haskell's works in Time Isn't Real, we're taking our imaginations into the third dimension, and creating sculptures with paper pulp! Paper pulp is a fun way to recycle paper, and it makes for an excellent building material, too. Please consider bringing a box to transport your art home, it will require some drying time (about a day) before it's ready to be painted! This event is drop-in style, so registration is appreciated but not required. While you're here, make sure to check out our Take-and-Make cart, where you can find all sorts of artsy odds and ends to take home and use. These free art supplies are made available by the generosity of our community, so if you have art supplies at home that you're no longer using, consider bringing them in to add to the Take-and-Make cart! This winter we’re changing it up in the Family Studio, and letting imagination be our guide. We’ll still offer kids and their families with free space to develop their art-making skills by offering inspiration and ideas for projects, but we’re also giving folks the option to flex their creative muscles and work with the tools and materials provided to make something unique. We’ll introduce different materials every two weeks by upcycling the stuff we have a lot of – a skill you can continue to build at home with items you might once have overlooked. Inspired by the wealth of styles, ideas and ways of making found in Time Isn’t Real, our Family Open Studio is a place to try out new ideas and make something unexpected! We’re bringing papermaking back due to popular demand! We’ll show you how to recycle shredded paper into gorgeous handmade sheets that are perfect for a special card or letter. Adding some flower petals, seeds or tiny colouredpaper scraps makes each page even more exciting. Please Note: This program is meant for families to work together on art projects, so all children attending must be accompanied by an adult. Drop in any time between 1-4pm in the Family Studio. Space is limited to about 30 folks, and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. While in the studio, please be mindful of other families wishing to participate! Turn humble yarn into fun projects like pompom garlands or hand-knit scarves for dollies! We’re calling all knitters and crocheters to come show off their skills or let us show you how if you’ve never tried.
