Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States! We are pleased to call you our neighbor and hope that you will support this event as a vendor, sponsor, or attendee. Juneteenth celebrates a point in African American history that change the direction of our future and transcended generations and is a MUST for our community to remember.
The Juneteenth Anchorage Citywide Celebration will be marked with celebrations, guest speakers, entertainment, education, learning our history and family gatherings. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing. It is a time for assessment, self-improvement and for planning the future. Its growing popularity signifies a level of maturity and dignity in America long overdue. In cities across the country, people of all races, nationalities and religions are joining hands to truthfully acknowledge a period in our history that shaped and continues to influence our society today. Sensitized to the conditions and experiences of others, only then can we make significant and lasting improvements in our society.

HBCU Band Camp for Youth 4th grade to 12th grade
If you are interested in a partial scholarship please let us know prior to registration.
$150 per camper with a same family discount is given to each child in the household
prices include lunch, uniform, camp supplies, instruction, and access to HBCU college leads and instructors. Instrument is NOT provided. Batons ARE provided. If you need resources on where to get or rent an instrument or other camp questions please let us know at the contact method below. Although our target intrumentalist age is 4th grade up we welcome participation for kids younger pending a limited schedule and specific role. This came does not teach children how to play music and is suited for kids with a basic level understanding of music on any instrument. Also open to non musical kids who like to dance or want other band roles.

Welcome to the Alaska Zoo Spring Break and Summer Adventure Camp programs!
Registration is for the full 4-days or 5-days indicated, no single days. Ages 6-10 only. Summer Camps are held in either the Gateway Hall (younger kids) or Discovery Center (older kids). We make every effort to honor sibling and friend sessions requests, but we cannot make guarantees. Camp is 9am-4pm. Drop off at 8:45am and pick up at 4pm. We give a grace period until 4:30pm, however we will charge $50 per 30 minutes late after 4:30pm. Camp includes two animal encounters at 10:30 and 2:30 daily. Themed activities include games, crafts, zoo trail walks and socializing.

The 6th Annual West High Alumni Charity Golf Tournament will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Anchorage Golf Course on O’Malley Rd. This highly anticipated event aims to support the children's outdoor skating programs of the Anchorage Skate Club, a 501(c)(3) charity that has been providing quality outdoor skating programs to children in Anchorage since 2011. By participating in this tournament, you can contribute to the success of these programs and help children from all backgrounds enjoy winter activities while learning skating skills.
The tournament format will be a scramble, and it is open to any West High Hockey Alumni, Family, Staff, and Friends. The field limit is set at 72 players, so be sure to register before the September 12th deadline. Check-in will take place between 11:30 and 12:30, with a shotgun start promptly at 12:30. The entry fee is $130 for individuals and $475 for a foursome, which includes 18 holes, range balls, and a shared golf cart. Exciting competition prizes, including Closest-to-Pin, Longest Drive, and Top Three Teams, await the participants, along with draw prizes.

The objective is simple: teams take turns tossing their bags at the opposing board, aiming for points. The first team to reach 21 points emerges victorious. Each bag that lands on the board scores 1 point, but if it falls through the hole, it's a whopping 3 points. Interestingly, bags already on the board can be knocked into the hole by subsequent tosses, increasing their points.
