Featured Events in Nanjing in September, 2024 (June Updated)

The main activities of the 2024 Zijin Culture and Art Festival, hosted by the Propaganda Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, will be held from September to October. On September 13, the festival's new play performance will start its first performance in Huai'an. The 2024 Zijin Culture and Art Festival will continue to uphold the purpose of "a grand event of art and a festival for the people", with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China as the main theme. Through opening and closing performances, new play performances, outstanding stage art works, outstanding art works exhibitions, "Art Moving Youth" young artists' exhibitions, college students' drama performances, small theater performances, group cultural activities and other sections, the latest achievements of literary and artistic creation in the province will be displayed, and the high-spirited main theme of the times will be sung. In addition to the main venue in Nanjing, the art festival has set up branch venues in theaters in Changzhou, Taizhou, Yangzhou, Huai'an and their subordinate counties (cities). From September 13 to September 28, the new play performance will be the first to kick off at the branch venue, when 20 new stage works from Jiangsu, such as Yangzhou Opera "Tuina", puppet show "Oriental White Stork", and Yue Opera "Wind Plum Picture", will be unveiled one by one. In October, 21 literary and artistic masterpieces that have won national and provincial awards and have been selected for the National Art Fund and other creative support plans, as well as a number of traditional classic works that promote China's excellent traditional culture and are widely acclaimed in the market, will be presented to the audience one by one. Among them are the Su Opera "National Tripod Soul", Huai Opera "Small Town", dance drama "Zhu Ziqing", Kun Opera "Poetry Feast·Tang Talent Biography" and other works created by our province's art troupes, as well as the documentary drama "Literature and Art in the War of Resistance" brought by the National Theatre, and the original French musical "Notre Dame de Paris" and other invited works.
