Morris dancing taster workshops | Margate Arts Club
Jan 6, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Margate
We're a local morris dancing group with a welcoming, inclusive and friendly outlook. We perform high quality dancing, traditional but modern in style. You don't need any experience or knowledge to come and give it a go - we welcome beginners! The sessions are totally free. Morris dancing is traditional English folk dancing. You dance in a 'set' of four or six people, with relatively simple steps and repeated figures so it's pretty quick to pick up the basics. If you like it and become a member of the team, you'll get to go to festivals and perform (if you want to), as well as local pub evenings with other morris dancing groups and arts, culture and community events. You can see the kind of thing we do on our website, https://bowerstreetmorris.wordpress.com/ We practice every Monday at the Margate Arts Club on Northdown Road. If you'd like to come along and see if it's for you, just pick a date and register for your free ticket. You don't need a partner, and there is no physical contact. Wear trainers and something you feel comfortable in.
