Following on from the amazing Super Bowl party we hosted in 2024... we are hosting another in 2025! This year we are cooking more food! Each ticket will gaurantee you entry, and tables will be provided on a first come first served basis. It is ticket only to ensure that it's only true football fans who are watching with us and no disturbance from non fans. You also get pizza, hotdogs, wings and fries served to your table between 9 and 10pm, plus extra hot food available for those who are still hungry! There will be Madden on the PS4 for those who want to get into football mode early! And, we will be providing snacks all night - including pretzels, jelly beans, nuts, sweets and plenty more! Are you looking for something to do in the half term holidays? Why not join us at Newport Museum and Art Gallery to create amazing papercuts in the style of French artist Henri Matisse. Guided by local artist Beth Wilks participants will have the opportunity to experiment with this technique and create their own cutout artworks inspired by the Newport Chartists and their demands for democracy. The workshop is suitable for 7 to 12-year-olds and free to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout. Spaces are limited and booking is essential. This event is support by CELF: National contemporary art gallery for Wales. About the artist: Beth Wilks is a teacher and visual artist who works mainly through the medium of papercutting. She enjoys this technique as the work is intricate and detailed which contrasts with the naïve and simplistic appearance of papercuts. She also finds it very satisfying, and sometimes challenging to produce a piece of work where all elements are joined in a continuous line. Beth’s work is created the old-fashioned way using a scalpel. She enjoys playing with elements of art which are juxtaposed, such as creating something mundane in a delicate or surprising way, and she also likes to include elements of humour in her work. Beth is inspired by the variety of fragments which come together to make us who we are such as places, words, music and people of significance, combined with a good dollop of nostalgia and a hint of the ridiculous.
