Canton Modernpresents twentieth-century Cantonese art and visual culture in its full complexity as an important chapter in global modernism. United in a shared linguistic and cultural identity, the southern port cities of Guangzhou (also known as Canton) and Hong Kong were historically marginal in China. The birthplace of revolution, the two cities gave rise to a distinctive visual and artistic modernism, one shaped by cross-cultural interactions and tensions between conservative and progressive artworlds. Cantonese artists broke away from the elegant poetics of classical ink painting to forge a socially oriented realism, depicting subjects ranging from leisure and labour to war and disaster. Working as journalists and publishers, they exploited the immediacy and circulation of print, photography, and cartoons to intervene in and even reform society.

"Chen Fushan Studio" uses Chen Fushan's home studio as a reference, and selects his personal belongings from his former residence in Wan Chai, including various household furnishings, hand-painted paintings and collections of books for display, in order to reproduce Chen's living environment and the layout when he was painting. Visitors can take a look at the original appearance of his former creative space outside the glass room, explore Chen's creative world with another visual experience, and gain a deeper understanding of the multiple aspects of this local artist. "Chen Fushan Studio" also leads the audience to review Chen's artistic journey and style development by displaying historical photos and text records about Chen's life, and wander in the story that created the legendary life of the "Watercolor King". Based on the contemporary era, it traces the trajectory of Hong Kong art history from the side.

And Thus Is This Land extends this collaborative process into the present. It asks participants to engage with each other, the artist, the original painters, and the poem that sparked this chain of creative work. They will navigate the tension between copying and adaptation, arriving at a work that both resembles the original yet is also wholly new.

Representing Hong Kong in a Collateral Event at the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, Trevor Yeung returns to M+ with a new configuration of his commissioned solo exhibition, Trevor Yeung: Courtyard of Attachments, Hong Kong in Venice. Yeung’s installations explore the relationships between human and aquatic ecosystems and comment on the emotional disconnections and power dynamics of contemporary society. Restaged in a museum setting, the exhibition shifts focus to discuss larger environmental and systemic issues. This response exhibition is part of the sixth collaboration between M+ and Hong Kong Arts Development Council on Hong Kong’s presentation during the Biennale.

The popularity of "Cardcaptor Sakura" has lasted for a long time. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the serialization of this comic, the "Cardcaptor Sakura Exhibition - Magical Art Museum" Asian Tour was held. INCUBASE Studio brought the exhibition to Hong Kong as the final stop of the entire magical journey! The exhibition will take you on a journey down memory lane and relive Sakura’s adventures from a whole new perspective. Whether you’re a loyal fan or a new reader, this unique experience is not to be missed! Enter the "Mysterious Original Painting Area" and "Card Room" "Cardcaptor Sakura" was created by the famous creative group CLAMP. The comic style is distinctive and delicate. You can watch about 200 replica original paintings from the early and later stages in the "Maze Original Painting Area"! Different replicas of original paintings will be exhibited in the early and late stages of the exhibition. The early stage will focus on characters, while the later stage will focus on the theme content, allowing the audience to fully experience the charm of different chapters! The special exhibition area "Card Room" will display Guluo cards, Sakura cards and transparent cards, and there will also be special surprises, which is exciting. Get a close look at the real Sakura's special battle suit and the 3-meter-tall Killer The exhibition will not only display "The Study Where It All Began" and the cards in the work, but will also open the studio of Sakura's friend Tomoyo, where you can get a close look at 1:1 replicas of many of Sakura's battle uniforms! In addition, there will be a 3-meter-tall Kiroko statue at the venue, allowing everyone to touch this popular character and take photos. Pop-up stores and theme cafes After visiting the exhibition, fans can also collect a variety of official peripherals! The official pop-up store of "Cardcaptor Sakura" is set up in the exhibition venue. The store will launch peripheral products directly sent from Japan, and there will also be overseas limited series, which is bound to cause fans to rush to buy! There is no age limit for the exhibition content, but because there will be various audio-visual effects in the exhibition, it is recommended that children under 10 years old be accompanied by their parents. Due to experience and safety considerations, this exhibition is not recommended for infants under 1 year old. Do children need tickets to enter? Children over three years old are required to purchase a ticket. Who can use the discounted tickets? Concessionary tickets are only available to full-time students, people with disabilities and seniors aged 65 or above. Ticket holders are required to present valid ID upon entry. Recording and photography are prohibited in this exhibition.
