The Lakeside Theatre fall shows are returning with an exciting lineup featuring two shows in one night. One of the featured shows is the renowned musical, Ride the Cyclone. This captivating production takes the audience on a profound journey with six teenagers during a choir field trip. As they embark on one final ride on a rollercoaster, their lives are forever transformed. The narrative unfolds when they encounter a peculiar fortune teller who unexpectedly holds considerable sway over their futures. Ride the Cyclone delves into the tragedy of lives cut short, offering an intimate glimpse into their aspirations, their authentic voices, and the infinite possibilities that lay before them. This 45-minute approved adaptation is a poignant exploration of these beautiful souls, serving as a poignant reminder to cherish every moment. The second show, She Kills Monsters, centers around the story of Agnes Evans, a high schooler grappling with the loss of her younger sister, Tilly. In her quest for solace, Agnes stumbles upon Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, immersing herself in a world of imagination that was her sister's sanctuary. Playwright Qui Nguyen brings this thrilling dramatic comedy to life, replete with homicidal fairies, treacherous ogres, and a vibrant homage to 90's pop culture. She Kills Monsters is a heart-pounding tribute to the inner geek and warrior within all of us. Similar to Ride the Cyclone, this show is also rated PG and delves into difficult themes such as death and gender identity, alongside some adult language.
