To ensure a comfortable and inclusive experience, MOAH provides various accommodations and support throughout the museum visit. Prior to arrival, guests can access a social narrative on MOAH's website, which provides a detailed description of the trip, including parking information, entrance/exit points, restroom locations, and how to access on-site sensory-friendly resources. During special open hours before the museum opens to the public, the lighting in the museum is dimmed, and the audio components of artworks are lowered. Upon arrival, guests are given a sensory-friendly programming map that highlights changes in light and noise, as well as the locations of hands-on sensory-friendly programming activities. For those with hyper/hypo-sensitivities, a designated take-a-break space is available on the bottom level of the museum. This secluded area offers a quiet and dimly lit environment with calming tools and water. MOAH also provides speech cards in both Spanish and English at the guest services desk to assist non-verbal visitors. Optional sensory-friendly programming activities include a self-guided multi-sensory tour and a hands-on art activity. The multi-sensory tour features stations throughout the museum, each focusing on a single work of art and offering objects to enhance the sensory experience. Staff members are available at these stations to engage with guests and provide multi-sensory items on a voluntary basis. The hands-on art activity, held in the MOAH classroom, is designed to accommodate various sensitivities, age groups, and abilities. In many cases, the finished art project can also be used as a fidget or calming tool while exploring the museum.
