Si prosegue con il fascino espressivo dei Fünf Stücke im Volkston, op. 102, che Schumann compose nel 1849 e in cui dispiega il proprio temperamento romantico, accesamente vivace e fantasioso, senza dimenticare quell'intimismo psicologico e tormentato, così tipico di certe pagine scritte tutte d'un fiato e con una freschezza inventiva dallo stile inconfondibilmente personale. Il concerto si conclude con la Sonata in re minore, composta in circa un mese da Debussy, poco prima della morte e in cui traspare chiaramente quel senso di rinnovamento estetico che contraddistingue la sua produzione, pur senza modificare radicalmente la morfologia tradizionale. Conclude il concerto il Quartetto per archi n. 8 di Šostakovič, dedicato alle vittime del nazifascismo e della seconda guerra mondiale.
