P LEASE NOTE THAT THE DURATION OF THIS EVENT SHOWN ABOVE IS ONLY APPROXIMATE AND CANNOT BE GUARANTEED; IT WILL DEPEND ON FACTORS SUCH AS THE WEATHER AND THE WALKING PACE OF THE GROUP. Our Wednesday walks include a lunchtime pub stop. Requirements for meals from the pub menu are usually requested and ordered before the start of the walk by the leader. Walkers who prefer to take a picnic lunch are welcome to do so and the leader will have a place designated for this somewhere near the pub, in the village, or in the area where we are stopping for lunch. It is very helpful for the walk leader to have prior knowledge of numbers that will be on this walk. We ask you to complete this very brief form to help with our planning of the walk to ensure that we can safely accommodate all who wish to join us. You will receive an automatic acknowledgement when you submit this form, and also a reminder of the details 2 days before the walk. Walk leader: Brenda Cameron Distance of walk : 6.75 miles – morning 4.5 miles (including short break), afternoon 2.25 miles. Pleasant easy walking throughout. Meeting arrangements: Meet by 10.30 a.m. at The Old House at Home, Birmingham Road, Blakedown DY10 3JE. If travelling by train: The 9.27 am train from Birmingham Moor Street platform 2, or 9.31 am from Snow Hill platform 1 - estimated arrival time at Blakedown 10.04 am. The Old House at Home is about 6/7 minutes walk from the station. On exiting the station turn left along the short slip road, right into main Birmingham Road and the pub is a few minutes’ walk on the left. Morning walk From the pub we head towards the picturesque Blakedown pools - formed when numerous small streams flowing down from the Clent Hills were dammed to form millponds for the small ironworks and corn grinding industries in the area. From here our route follows part of the Monarch’s Way passing alongside Harborough Hill. Another large pool brings us to Churchill Forge a waterwheel powered hand tool forge, one of the last remaining in the UK. The site dates from before 1800, with the workshop machinery dating from the early 1900s. We pass through the quiet village of Churchill, briefly follow field paths and a bridle track to Churchill Lane leading us back to Blakedown and the pub for lunch. Please note the pub doesn’t open till 12 but we will take a comfort break during the morning walk. Note: lunch at the pub is optional. For those who wish to do the morning walk only, the estimated finish time is 1-1.30pm. Or you may prefer to bring your own lunch to eat nearby and then if you wish join the group for a drink. Afternoon walk: After lunch our short route follows pleasant part wooded bridle tracks and quiet lanes. On this route we pass a truly magnificent Art Deco house which I would describe as Hollywood Hills comes to Worcestershire! It’s wonderful and jaw-dropping - and not to be missed! Expressions of Interest for this walk will close at 06.00 on Wednesday 4 June . After this, pleaseemail bhamramblersenquiries@gmail.comto enquire about any late availability for the walk. ==================================================== If you later find that you are unable to join us it would be helpful if you let us know by sending an email to bhamramblersenquiries@gmail.com - this will be passed on to the walk leader and will prevent any delay to the start of the walk should the leader be waiting for you. Please note that some walks have a waiting list so tickets are NOT TRANSFERABLE; if you are unable to join us then please cancel your place to free it up for someone who may be on the waiting list rather than passing it to someone else. General Information This is one of several walks and activities offered by the Birmingham Ramblers. If you have found this page through a web search or other means and would like to find out more about the group then please visit the Birmingham Ramblers web site; new members are always welcome. There is a word I think about often: sonder. Sonder describes the realisation that everyone we meet, everyone we cross paths with, is living a life as complex and intricate as our own. How do we experience connection to ourselves, each other, time and the world around us? What are some of the beautiful moments of connection we've experienced? What kind of connections do we want to create and what is the power of connection and empathy in today's world? Join me, adjei, and friends to explore through this immersive show - an ode to the meaningful moments of connection, empathy and compassion in our lives. Meet new people and connect through interactive art, words, performances, inspiring stories. This is a free show but booking tickets in advance is necessary as there are limited spaces available. Booking early is recommended. You can also support my work further by paying for me to write you a personalised handwritten poem on card with any theme of your choosing. It could be a poem about going through changes, or comforting words of hope. Anything that you would really appreciate a poem on right now. All support helps me to continue my creative journey. One love, adjei sun Information Source: Adjei Sun (a.sun) | eventbrite
