Native Detroiter Martinus Evans will be discussing his new book, 'Slow AF Run Club,' during the 2023 Detroit Free Press Marathon weekend. The event will take place in the Galleria at the Main Library and will be simulcast on Zoom. Martinus, a Detroit-born runner and writer, has run over eight marathons since receiving a life-changing message from his doctor in July 2012. In addition to being featured in various publications such as The New York Times and Men's Health, Martinus has also coached hundreds of runners. His newest book, 'Slow AF Run Club,' is a blueprint for individuals who may not fit the traditional image of a runner. This inclusive guide empowers individuals of all sizes, athletic abilities, and health conditions to embrace their bodies and start their running journey. Martinus holds a BS in Exercise Science from Central Michigan University and multiple degrees from the University of Connecticut.
