Join the upcoming event, "Sign up to create collaborative performances toward our collective freedom!" taking place in Chapel Hill at the CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio on November 3, 2023. This event aims to value the stories within us and reclaim our voices, celebrating our collective power. Renowned artist, Renee Alexander Craft, will be leading the event named "A Ring Shout at the Crossroads: Holding Space and Journeying Forward." Prior to the event, participants will have the opportunity to engage with three readings: "The Education of a Storyteller" by Toni Cade Bambara, "Introduction" from Sister Outsider by Audre Lorde, and "I Will Speak Genius To Myself" by Ruth Forman. These readings will serve as inspiration for the collaborative performances that participants will create during the gathering. During the gathering, participants will be divided into smaller groups and encouraged to express their unique perspectives and insights through short 2-3 minute response performances. The creative process is designed to foster collaboration, community-building, and joy. It will provide a platform for participants to experiment, play, and embrace vulnerability. Following the creation of these performances, each group will have the opportunity to share their work with the larger group, sparking meaningful conversations and contemplation.
