Cultural Experiences
Group Breathwork with Peter Dueck I'm so excited to invite you to this group breathwork session with me! This is a group facilitated session with an active breathwork practice (similar to conscious connected breathwork). This active breathwork brings movement and energy into the body inviting intuition, clarity and a reconnection to your innate wisdom. Breathwork is also a powerful modality that supports flow between expanded states and deep rest, offering a euphoric feeling of both floating and groundedness. I have been studying as a facilitator with Breathwork for Recovery and am six months away from completing the 1000 hour (2yr) breathwork certification program. I look forward to helping guide your experience and meeting you where you are. No experience necessary! I welcome you to reach out with any questions or accessibility needs. Accessibility notes: This event is on the second floor. There is a ramp and elevator to the second floor, and the space is wheelchair accessible. This breathwork practice is able to be facilitated sitting up as long as your head is supported. Washrooms are gendered and folks are welcome to use whichever is best/least worse. Please reach out if you have any medical conditions to confirm that this practice is right for you. You will be most comfortable if you bring: A yoga mat or towel to lie on, and water. Some people also enjoy a blanket and pillow for under their knees. No one turned away for lack of funds - sliding scale pay what you can. April 20th 2025 Doors @ 7pm Show @ 730 A small menu of pizzas and snacks will be available to order. About the Artists Andrina Turenne is a Juno award-winning songwriter and singer who tells stories in a familiar spirit. Her songs and style are warm, and she has her feet firmly planted in more than one genre, moving seamlessly through each one. Her sound is distinctly rooted in her homeland of Manitoba, and Winnipeg, the gritty city where she grew up immersed in a vibrant and rich musical fabric. Andrina has spent over two decades honing her craft on countless stages, as well as in the recording studio, having lent her voice to over 50 albums and performing on five continents. In April 2023, she released her debut solo album Bold as Logs, which The Winnipeg Free Press described as an “intoxicating blend of bluesy, soulful R&B, rootsy rock and old-time folk music”. The album charted on independent radio in Canada and the US and was followed up with an EP called Je suis un arbre in 2024. She has composed for television, film and theatre, and in recent years has toured internationally appearing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and BigSound in Brisbane. Andrina is a powerful musician and vocalist who can rattle the roof, and simultaneously have you smiling through tears. As a lyricist, singer-songwriter Cassidy Mann often reshapes a small moment into a powerful and poetic song that feels both personal and relatable. “My favourite thing is to write about tiny things that make the bigger picture more important somehow,” she says. Mann’s first EP “If It’s Not Forever” served as a catalogue of how her early relationships ended and why – and she hopes that other people feel seen and comforted by her stories. Certain moments in a relationship are almost always at the core of her songs, whether it’s the potential start of something special or the inevitable end. Information Source: Bonnie Day | eventbrite

Tomato Blues/ by means of each otherApril 25-26 at 7:30pm April 27 at 4:00pmArtist Talk to follow Sunday matinee Tomato Blues Dance, songs, text, bricks and a chair come together to portray the vicious circle in the life of a heroic tomato. Created and performed with cabaret appeal by the fabulous Lina Cruz! Indirectly and symbolically, the work addresses the political dynamics with which our societies operate, hinting at the cruelty and paradox of our behaviours. The discourse of the piece does not take sides, it makes a playful allusion to the patterns that have followed us all along our human evolution, portraying how easily we can shift from one side to the other, depending on how much power we have. As such, this piece opens a window to questioning where we stand today and what we want for our future. by means of each other Sarah Hutton and Aiden Cass source from their everyday, domestic behaviour as romantic and working partners to create a duet that reveals the absurd and profound lengths we go to for one another. Playing the range between highly physical partnering and the subtlest of looks, they investigate the nuances of communication, power dynamics, and coexisting; all with their signature humour and wit. In the face of relentless conflict, the two embrace their trust, love, and willingness to transform. With a dynamic playlist, live dialogue, and elegant prop work, the tangible chemistry of Hutton and Cass illuminates the ridiculous, painstakingly tangled, and resilient pursuit of partnership.
