Mar 28–Aug 3, 2025 (UTC-3)
Sao Paulo
In a timeline format, the exhibition brings together 74 works from MASP’s collection and rarely exhibited documentation from the museum’s Research Center, including photographs, documents, posters, books, catalogs, newspapers, and magazines. This selection presents the institution’s history in a didactic and panoramic manner, addressing topics such as the creation of the museum, the formation of its collection, its first headquarters on 7 de Abril, the move to Avenida Paulista, as well as exhibitions and events that made history in recent decades. The exhibition is curated by Adriano Pedrosa, artistic director, MASP; Regina Teixeira de Barros, coordinating and collection curator, MASP; Guilherme Giufrida, assistant curator, MASP; and Laura Cosendey, assistant curator, MASP.
Five essays on MASP — Renoir | Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand
Mar 28–Aug 3, 2025 (UTC-3)
Sao Paulo
Curated by Adriano Pedrosa, artistic director, MASP, and Fernando Oliva, curator, MASP, the selection covers practically the entire career of the French artist. Among the paintings is the famous work Pink and blue – The Cahen d’Anvers girls (1881), which portrays Elisabeth and Alice, daughters of banker Louis Cahen d’Anvers (1837–1922), a family belonging to the 19th-century Jewish community. Alice lived until the age of 89 and died in Nice in 1965. Elisabeth, on the other hand, had a tragic fate. During the exhibition of MASP works held at the Fondation Pierre Gianadda in Switzerland in 1987, her nephew Jean de Monbrison wrote to the museum reporting that Elisabeth had been sent to Auschwitz during World War II and died on the way to the concentration camp at the age of 69.
Five essays on MASP – Arts of Africa | Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand
Mar 28–Aug 3, 2025 (UTC-3)
Sao Paulo
The curatorship of Amanda Carneiro, curator, MASP, and Leandro Muniz, assistant curator, MASP, selected pieces made of wood, mainly those related to the body or its representation. The collection includes statuettes of Exu and Xangô, everyday objects, dolls, drums, furniture and masks used in festivities, initiation rituals, celebrations or funerals. Although other presentations of this collection have already been held, this is the first exhibition that seeks to establish a critical and purposeful reading of the museum's African art collection.
Five essays on MASP – Geometries | Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand
Mar 28–Aug 3, 2025 (UTC-3)
Sao Paulo
Curated by Adriano Pedrosa, artistic director, MASP, Regina Teixeira de Barros, coordinating curator, MASP, and Matheus de Andrade, curatorial assistant, MASP, the exhibition proposes a look at both traditional geometry, primarily guided by mathematical principles, and more experimental approaches. These concepts unfold in works by national and international artists who explore various media and techniques, such as paintings, sculptures, photographs and fabrics. The dialogue between the different trends reflects the incorporation of geometric art into the museum's collection.
Five essays on MASP — Isaac Julien: Lina Bo Bardi — a wonderful tangle | Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand
Mar 28–Aug 3, 2025 (UTC-3)
Sao Paulo
The projections are displayed on screens with different supports. Some are fixed to the wall, while others are supported by concrete cubes, a reference to the crystal easels designed by the architect for MASP. The structure symbolizes the idea of an open and transparent museum, which allows the public to have a closer encounter with the works of art. The original soundtrack, composed by Maria de Alvear, reinforces the immersive and sensorial nature of the installation.
Hulda Guzmán: Miraculous Fruits | Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand
Apr 11–Aug 24, 2025 (UTC-3)
Sao Paulo
MASP – Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand presents, starting on April 11, the exhibition Hulda Guzmán: Frutas Milagrosas, the first solo exhibition by Dominican artist Hulda Guzmán (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 1984) in a museum. In her paintings, the artist subverts the tradition of landscape painting by denying its exotic and idyllic representation, choosing instead to treat nature as a protagonist territory in which all elements are interdependent. Relationships of affection and the surroundings of the place where she lives are recurring themes in her paintings, in which tropical and fantastical settings are inhabited by a diverse cast of characters — real or imaginary. Her works maintain a biographical character, imbued with humor and a dreamlike or theatrical appeal.
38th Panorama of Brazilian Art: One Thousand Degrees | São Paulo Museum of Modern Art
Apr 24–Aug 31, 2025 (UTC-3)
Sao Paulo
The 38th edition of Panorama da Arte Brasileira: Mil Graus arrives at Sesc Campinas as a live ember, bringing together works that illuminate and elaborate sensibilities, identities and experiences from different contexts in the country. Constituted as a critical reflection on the national reality, the exhibition brings together artists whose practices traverse urgent issues: from the ecological to the technological, from the political to the spiritual.
As matter in transmutation, these works soften the limits of language and activate collective memories against hegemonic ones, proposing not only reflection, but action. Based on an understanding of the exhibition space as an environment where contrasts and connections merge, the selected works operate as fissure devices — they expose cracks in crystallized logics and suggest new ways of inhabiting the world.
With this itinerant exhibition, inaugurated in 2024 at MAC USP and held by the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo, Sesc seeks to expand access to the symbolic layers that make up the exhibition. In addition to the visit, the program includes educational mediations that deepen the instances of sharing between artists and audiences. Like the transitory states of matter that heat brings about, the institution is interested in establishing itself as an educational space in which subjective processes between what has been and what is to come take place, revealing themselves in the creative experiences specific to the artistic field.

MAM São Paulo: Encounters Between the Modern and the Contemporary | São Paulo Museum of Modern Art
Mar 26–Jun 8, 2025 (UTC-3)ENDED
Sao Paulo
Works from different periods in the history of recent Brazilian art are brought together in six sections of the exhibition: “Nature: the end of representation”, “Urban environment: the habitat of modernity”, “Bodies: the politics of relationships”, “Forms of building and breaking”, “Fragments, gestures and abstractions”, and “Media: updated traditions”. These thematic sections bring together works from different times and contexts to demonstrate that the recurrence of issues of modernity in contemporary times is a fact of the time lived and often in overlapping periods. Within the sections, works produced by active artists dialogue with works linked to the modernist avant-garde. Whether through visual qualities or technical and conceptual procedures, these works extend to the present day issues initially revealed by industrial modernity, which continue to be unfolded by development efforts and technological advances. The perception of continuity in these ways of thinking and revealing reality is precisely the critical tool that society needs to deal with the dystopian challenges that present themselves to the entire world.
The current collection at MAM thus poses questions that touch on cultural, social and historical issues: What is the relationship between the ideas of “modern” and “contemporary”? How do they differ and what brings them together? And how does this affect our ways of producing culture and narrating history? Is it simply a distinction between periods or styles? There are certainly historical and theoretical differences that deserve broad discussion, but is it possible to precisely draw the visual and temporal boundary between modern art and contemporary art? How does this relate to the perception of historical time and lived time? The exhibition addresses these questions, not to answer them definitively, but rather to contribute to other approaches, offering the public the autonomy to be surprised by the reflections awakened by art, regardless of the time period.

Video room: Inuk Silis Høegh | Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand
Apr 11–Jun 1, 2025 (UTC-3)ENDED
Sao Paulo
In The Green Land, Høegh establishes a connection between the meaning of the territory’s name — “green land” — and the current scenario of accelerated melting of glaciers. The color green, in this context, represents the contrast between the idea of a fertile land, rich in vegetation, and the polar landscape in transformation. The video, with a contemplative rhythm, presents different states of the four natural elements — water, fire, earth and air — materialized in different shades of this color, which sometimes invades the frozen landscapes, sometimes integrates with the new landscape.
