This three-day summer festival is held on the first weekend of August each year. The event has venues in Kamiichi, northwest of Mito Station, and Shimoichi, southeast of Mito Station, and features a Mito Komon parade with performers, a procession of mobile shrines, and stage performances with singing and dancing. The event also features a fireworks display with more than 4,500 fireworks set off by the shores of Lake Senba. Uniquely designed fireworks and super-large combination fireworks make the event even more exciting.

Held at Kodokan and Kairakuen, the festival is famous for its plum blossoms, a traditional sign of spring in Mito. Kairakuen has over 3,000 plum trees of 100 varieties, each blooming at different times and for long periods of time, making them easy to see. The festival features a variety of events, including an open-air tea ceremony, a photography festival, and a floating puppet event. In an event called "Night Plum Festival," the entire garden is lit up by candlelight, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Fireworks displays are also a highlight of the event.

Mito Azalea Festival, held at Kairakuen, Senbako Park and Mito City Forest Park from late April to early May, coinciding with the flowering period of azaleas. 380 types of azaleas, such as Kirishima azaleas and white bellflowers, bloom as expected, and Kairakuen is covered in a sea of red and white flowers. In Mito City Forest Park, more than 10,000 mountain azaleas and Kurume azaleas bloom, creating a colorful spring-like atmosphere. Various events are held during the festival, including open-air tea parties.
