To Joe Tucker, Eric was just his loving and funny uncle, a beloved yet unconventional figure throughout Joe’s life. A shambolically dressed man who lived with his mother for almost eighty years in Warrington, only really stretching his bubble of existence to include the local pub and betting shop on the high street–unknown to many until his death, that behind closed doors, Eric had amassed over five hundred of his own remarkable paintings. The Secret Painter is a true story about Eric Tucker–a seemingly unremarkable man who had an extraordinary hidden life as an accomplished painter. Exploring class and ambition, loneliness and community, success, and failure; told with real heart and humour The Secret Painter reminds us that the unexpected can be found in the most surprising places. Join author and newphew of The Secret Painter, Joe Tucker, to share this remarkable story. in conversation with local author Nik Perring. Information Source: Libraries Sheffield | eventbrite
